Ask yourself, what would a C-UAS ANNEX look like in a 5 paragraph OPORD. As we learn to incorporate C-UAS into all aspects of operations we need to learn to think differently. We have great challenges ahead that we can meet if we all work together to help our warfighters and allies be successful on the UAS battlefield.

Russia's newest EW System destroyed Over the weekend, Ukrainian forces used HIMARS to destroy Russia’s most-modern electronic warfare system, the Palantin, alongside a version of the Leer jamming system. The attack happened on the Zaporizhzhia front. The Palantin system only entered service with the Russian army in 2019 and this is the third one to have been destroyed since the beginning of Russia’s invasion. Despite the Palantin’s impressive counter-drone capabilities (see below), it was located by a drone and the attack was filmed by a drone. For a piece of equipment with a range of 1,000 km, it seems odd to position it within 80 km (50 miles) of HIMARS GPS-guided missiles, which should have been jammed by the very system they destroyed. According to Russian sources, the Palantin is designed to suppress military communications equipment and drones out to a distance of 1,000 km (621 miles). It can also suppress radio relay stations and satellite-communication ground terminals. The manufacturer claims that Palantin can jam network and trunk communications channels, to suppress tactical enemy radio communications in the ultrashort and short wavebands. The most important feature of the system was stated to be the ability to effectively operate against frequency-hopping radio systems. It can also identify the location of a drone, jam its signal and find the precise location of the operator. The Palantin is a very rare and an extremely valuable asset. Palantins belong to EW brigades, which makes them assets that can only be assigned at the level of the military district. Russia has 5 military districts. https://lnkd.in/gvn7hXdd #osint #ulkrainewar

The book, “7 Seconds to die” discusses this capability in detail. Imagine 20 to 30 of these rounds flying overhead that can simply be returned home to be reused if no target is identified. So much for a deliberate defense?Think about it. Awesome weapon.

🌟 Reflecting on the Journey: Harnessing Technology to Protect U.S. Soil 🌟 As I pause to reflect on my journey, I can't help but feel humbled by the sight of the hard work and dedication from years past being put to use. The realization that the technologies I've contributed to are actively serving to safeguard the soil of the United States fills me with immense pride. In the realm of national security, advancements in technology play a pivotal role in bolstering defenses against a myriad of threats. From cutting-edge surveillance systems to sophisticated cybersecurity measures, these innovations empower us to detect and respond to potential dangers swiftly and effectively. However, the effectiveness of these technologies in protecting U.S. soil isn't solely defined by their sophistication. It's equally dependent on how they're implemented, regulated, and integrated into broader defense strategies. Responsible deployment and ethical considerations are paramount to ensure that these tools serve the greater good without compromising fundamental values and freedoms. As we navigate the evolving landscape of security challenges, it's crucial to maintain a balance between security imperatives and civil liberties. Striking this balance requires a nuanced approach to technological development and deployment; one that prioritizes both effectiveness and ethical considerations. Let us continue to harness the power of technology to safeguard the soil of the United States while upholding the principles upon which our nation was founded. Together, we can ensure that our hard work and dedication contribute to a safer, more secure future for generations to come. #NationalSecurity #Technology #Ethics #UnitedStates

Future Combat Air System (#FCAS) FCAS will be centred around a core Next Generation Weapon System (#NGWS). In this “system of systems,” piloted New Generation Fighters will work together with Unmanned Remote Carriers – all connected to other systems in space, in the air, on the ground, at sea and in cyberspace via a data cloud called the “Combat Cloud.” These connected platforms will act as sensors, effectors and decision nodes working together within an open scalable service oriented architecture enabling the inclusion of future platforms and technologies. Various national and allied platforms will supplement the NGWS in a collaborative strategy by adding their unique capabilities. Such a system-of-systems approach enables seamless collaborative combat across domains by leveraging the connected capabilities of pooled platforms. https://lnkd.in/dpRQKHHw
