🌟 Update your candidates! 🌟 Lately, I've noticed a concerning trend: candidates go through interviews and then are left hanging. 😕 This happens even when they're in the final stages and have been promised an update about an offer!! While it's understandable for business needs to evolve and for decisions to change, it's absolutely crucial to keep candidates in the loop! 🔄 It's okay if your requirements shift or if you decide not to proceed with a particular individual, but it's definitely NOT okay to leave them in the dark. 🌑 A simple call or email can make all the difference: "Please bear with us," "We'll get back to you within the next 10 days," or "Unfortunately, we've decided not to move forward with your application at this time." 📞📧 Let's prioritise transparency and respect for candidates' time and efforts!! Candidate experience is and always has been SUPER important in the hiring process. I’ve heard people explain the hiring process like dating recently and it truly rings true, you both have to like each other to get to the next date/interview. Now imagine you have a poor experience, how likely are you going to get into a relationship with that person? With folks being ghosted, ran through ridiculous interviewing processes, or going weeks without a peep from the hiring manager or recruiter it’s hard to say you have a good candidate experience! Celebration time! 🥳 Another role offered and accepted! What this doesn't say is the blood, sweat and tears we went through to find this person. This was a tricky role. It required certain technical skills within a more rural area. But we didn't give up and we searched for 2.5 weeks putting our Boolean skills to daily use. It might not sound like much, but we spent a lot of time searching and reviewing candidates. In all we found 5 qualified candidates through pure graft. But this person was the best fit for the role on paper and they smashed their interview 💪. ***Measuring the Candidate Experience, Helps You Improve It*** According to the Talent Board, two of the top three reasons candidates around the world withdraw from the process are “My time was disrespected during the interview process” and “The recruiting process took too long.” 54% of candidates have abandoned a recruitment process due to poor communication from the recruiter/employer. If recruitment teams gave actual factual reasons for not moving forward with candidates, they would receive so many more applications. Imagine getting useful feedback on your resume or interview for applying to a job. Sounds crazier than it should be. I have a hard time thinking about the downside to this. Recruiters would learn what companies want to see. Candidates would be able to better their resume, interview skills or knowledge for the industry they are working towards. More people would want to interview with them since they know they will benefit from whatever the result would be. Win - Win - Win.
