In thinking about the idea of having zero expectations, I agree totally that reciprocal expectations of others can take us down a dark rabbit hole. But I also think it's unreasonable to have zero expectations of others. It is unrealistic, as human interactions often involve some level of expectations. As opposed to having zero expectations I recommend having non-reciprocal expectations, or expectations that don't necessarily require an equal or immediate return, which can help maintain healthier relationships and promote positive interactions. I'm thinking about this from a teamwork perspective. Here are a few non-reciprocal expectations to consider: patience, gratitude, support in crisis, basic respect, acknowledgment of effort, etc. Remember that while you can have these non-reciprocal expectations, they may not always be met by everyone. People have their own limitations, experiences, and perspectives. Maintaining a balance between setting reasonable expectations and practicing understanding and empathy can contribute to more fulfilling and harmonious relationships.

I love Gary Vaynerchuk and wish he'd dig into this more. As I see it(no hate intended), this is a terrible take on expectations. So here's my take: Expectations are the recipe for Value Want to appreciate someone? Don't give them softball warm fuzzies, TALK VALUE. As a leader, parent, friend, shared expectations let folks know what we value most about the relationship. This isn't: - Punitive - Some bar they have to jump - A checklist they check to keep their job It is a declaration of value. "As my employee, I hired you to stock these shelves. It's important and gives value to the company. It lets me focus on sales. What you do over and above that expectation is what we talk about at promotion time" "As a parent, I expect you to listen, work hard, and be kind. You are a key part of our family/team and doing your part means we can have more fun and less fights" "As a friend, I value that we can talk together and share our lives. I expect that we'll support each other through the good and bad times" People aren't perfect and we have to bend sometimes. But using expectations to frame difficult conversations let's people know that what you value about their role is missed. (This can also be kind) Expectations are part of the protocol of relationships. Expectations can also be toxic: - Unrealistic expectations (set too high) - Expectations that are held but not shared - Expectations that cause shame - Toxic standards we put on ourselves These are toxic. Drop em. I doubt Gary will read this but I'd be interested in how he views expectations and how he highlights value. What do you think?

Once I started thinking this way, the world and life became so much easier. I've always been, $&#^ it, Let me just do it myself.. Once learning to delegate while keeping this level of expectation in mind and letting people around me know that they got this, They have my 100% confidence in them (whether they did or not), people went beyond my expectations and my ability to cheer them on became stronger. It is important to maintain realistic expectations in order to achieve happiness.

Better to state it this way then to say no body cares about you. I think it’s okay to accept that people don’t want to change because they cannot account for key word accountability. What the other side though is how would we feel or be if God didn’t expect us to change? If we lived that lifestyle of hurt redirecting to an uncare - learning that it resognates to others there’s a fine line to showcasing this statement without the add to on the spiritual opportunity to grow change for positive perspectives. God teaches us to bring to light differences and to understand it’s okay not to see the same points of view - you have a choice to walk away or you have a choice to say Why aren’t they happy? If I cannot help them in my life, God will you take there hand and give them the way to happiness as you helped me? God never turns his back on His people. He made a promise to love us and give us eternal life; life is love. Jesus unfortunately stated as he was a human still, that he would be there until the end of the world. That was a wrong statement it was boasting that he was in control of the world and that isn’t truth. Even the greatest of kings have fallen due to pride or prejudice - and prejudice another word more common is jealousy. The chance to race for power. So when God forgave Jesus he also gave him a second opportunity and it was also that of Marry who had made a vow to take down those that had killed Jesus whom she loved for his forgiveness mischief secrets of her misery she became misery. It ate her up alive Just like Sheba people expect was a man or was it a woman? Was it a friend or was it a lover? Depended upon your his story lessons. So what I’m gathering to place first the universal truths is the not all is as it seems. Be understanding that you do not need to focus on others misery or gains or possessions. Just know your path and stay on it you will find all that you need in life as a guide to life’s purpose and it all boils down to the Ten Commandments chiseled from the Rock of salvation. Planet Earth with the foundation God gave to man to learn teach preserve and protect and love with mercy to anyone left behind who has been most nowadays as the world has forgotten the one soldier, The fallen soldier the devil was also a creation by God. In order to beat the chaos of his plans we had to pray for the souls of his amends and since we are all one - you know now what I mean when I was visited by Solomon at 4.5 years old- and why since July 2020 I’ve been open and a custom to the battles and will not walk away from praying for others that harm me or anyone - we’re all children of creation. We’re not all children of Christ. We just respect the commitment of others to standing there own will power and know that the boast of God quietly until he states it is built then you can state your position without power but in living colorful kindness compassion but of Truth to his life through your sacrifices.

Being empathetic and aware of what's happening around us is crucial for personal growth and meaningful connections. Let's stop worrying about others' opinions and live authentically. Expectation is the enemy of happiness; let's adopt a flexible and accepting approach to life's twists and turns. So true. Instead of “mentoring” and “healing” others focus on yourself and your life. When you don’t expect much from people they sincerely surprise you. And of course when you don’t care about other people’s opinion, there is a higher possibility for you to live your own life and follow your authentic path. Hundreds of years being a part of the group was a part of survival, nowadays it doesn’t mean anything only can misdirect from your true journey and success. Don’t judge others, give advise when you asked for it, be kind to people, surround yourself with positive and supportive people, follow your heart and true desires. Approve yourself and your actions instead of looking for the external approval
