IB PYP 5 Master Pulses - Fundraiser Event "Knowing is not enough! You must take action.” - Tony Robbins Action plays a vital role in PYP. Our learning becomes meaningful only if it makes a difference in our lives and in our society. One such episode in every IB PYPians learning journey is action. We take action to promote, voice out, participate, advocate, contribute, collaborate and construct a better world. To promote sustainable agricultural practices, the IB PYP5 students’ group action stood as a great initiative. As a part of their PYP Exhibition our students researched the burning issues in their country and across the globe. While analyzing the impact of the issue like agricultural distress, our young learners connected with World Pulses Day and organised a food stall named MASTER PULSES as a fundraiser. This year's World Pulses Day(10 Feb) theme is “ Pulses: Nourishing soil and people” — the edible seeds of leguminous plants are increasing the resilience of farming systems and improving lives thanks to their low water footprint, drought tolerance and resistance to climate disasters. Our students equipped the action type #Social Entrepreneurship in an innovative way and organized this event focusing on sustainable agricultural practices. The food counters set with different varieties of chat made up of pulses showcased the importance of pulses in having a healthy life and healthy soil. The students were actively involved in the ideation, planning, execution, and scaling of this event. They started with the requirement analysis, then did the feasibility study when it comes to preparation of food. Finally they estimated the investment required to gain a minimal profit. On the other hand this experience gave them complete exposure to entrepreneurship. Through this action we contributed to the SDG #2 Zero Hunger - targets like 2.2 End all forms of malnutrition and 2.4 Sustainable food production and resilient agricultural practices. The event started with our EYP Tiny tots, followed by students from grades 1 to 12 from both IB and CBSE curriculums. All our little customers contributed to this event by making their presence and enjoying the delicious snacks. The food was served with love and care by our IB PYP 5 team. Overall it was a wonderful learning experience!

It’s hard to believe it's been 7 years since I graduated with my B.Tech (Food Technology & Management - Dual) at the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K) as part of it's 2nd ever UG batch (2013-17) - formative years for me & also for the future of #foodscience, #foodtechnology & #foodprocessing in #India. Transitioning to a new career in #Climate & on the eve of #NIFTEMFoundationDay on 7th October, I’m excited to share a quick update with my LinkedIn network, especially those connected to the #Food, #AlternativeProteins, #Science, #Technology, #Processing industries: NIFTEM-K’s #new #Linkedin page has recently launched, check out! (🔗 in comments). Since its establishment in 2012 by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India - #NIFTEM-K has grown tremendously, earning the status of a #National #Institute of #Importance" (NII) through a special #Parliamentary Act - placing it in the prestigious league of top 165 priority educational institutes in India as the top #IIT, #IIM, #NIT, & #AIIMS (🔗 in comments). It is ranked highly in the recent #NIRF rankings, a testament to its rising reputation under Director Harinder Oberoi. My time at NIFTEM was incredibly #formative for my fundamental understanding of #Food & #Climate systems, laying the foundation for my impact-first #careerpath. During my 4 yrs. there: - I was offered a merit scholarship to represent NIFTEM at University of Saskatchewan, Canada & later at Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), Chicago, USA. - Genuinely inspiring mentors like visionary founding VC Dr. Ajit Kumar & faculty Ashutosh Upadhyay, Pitam Chandra, Ashok Dhawan guided me patiently during these 4 years which helped me become 1 of first 5 students to do our 6-month research internship globally. Mine was at the prestigious food science lab of Mukund Karwe at Rutgers University, USA. - Got published, researched multiple novel projects, 1 resulted in one of the first 5 granted #patents to NIFTEM ever-all thanks to my amazing co-researchers. - Spent ~3 months over 4 yrs. living in a rural village in Maharashtra with farmers that helped develop empathy & understanding of grassroots #Bharat with an amazing mentor Vinkel Kumar Arora through #entrepreneurship, #extension & giving back to society via our #VillageAdoptionProgram. - Explored #Delhi on weekends and created cherished memories of a lifetime! - Graduated in a historic #First #Convocation in presence of the Hon'ble #PresidentofIndia Shri. Ram Nath Kovind Ji & our then VC Chindi Vasudevappa. A heartfelt expression of gratitude for many other faculty, teachers, research & support staff at NIFTEM who helped me in this journey. For my fellow #NIFTEMites, pls. update your details on LinkedIn with the new link so you appear in the #Alumni section & stay connected with the #network. Let’s celebrate this milestone together & continue building on the #legacy of NIFTEM-K! #ProudAlumni #AlmaMater

We worked on a campaign with Indian School of Business on building a series on the Culture of Giving i.e., giving back to the school as alumni. There is this myth that the School is already well endowed and what's the need for alumni to give back. But, once I spent more time talking to a diverse set people I realised that great institutes were not built by a small set of people or an illustrious board alone, it is alumni that's the bedrock and their involvement that takes institutes to greater heights. And not all of this happens simply organically today; it needs concentrated efforts to bring alumni together. It is just a world we don't get to see, often once we are out of the system. What was interesting for me as an alumni producing this film was that I got to look at and learn from both sides of this coin. I left inspired. And when someone asked me if I would write a cheque to school now, my answer was definitely not a question back on why should I or No :) In time, certainly. https://lnkd.in/gz-bpqsJ D N V Kumara Guru Pramath Raj Sinha Madan Pillutla Deepa Mani Sarang Deo Office of Advancement at ISB ISB Alumni Engagement Parul Khullar (She/Her) Team LastBench: Concept and Creative Production - Shashank Ganesh, Sriram Cinematography - Meghna M, Aman Chanana, Sriram Editing - Meghna M

I've looked at the application requirements for the Roddenberry Foundation's 2025 Fellowship program. And the "issue area" list stopped me cold. Applicants have to choose from this list to describe their projects. The Foundation is using the classic "analysis mindset" approach to improving the world... which makes it impossible to apply if your project is Systems Transformation-based (which my work is). They think what we need to do is "fix the broken parts of society". They have no concept of "societal redesign" ... which #BuckminsterFuller taught back in the 1960s (and which the Route 66 Spirit of America Museum has an entire exhibit devoted to). If you're curious, below is the list of "issue areas" applicants are REQUIRED to choose from. None of them involve eliminating root causes of why our problems exist. I've written to the Foundation through their Facebook page to see if I can open a dialogue with them about this methodology issue. And perhaps Heidi Roddenberry will see this post and let me know if she's got some time to talk about this. I'll let you all know what happens. Here's to #RedesigningSociety (one of Russ Ackoff's best books)... the only way to eliminate the root causes of why society doesn't work for all. Gil Friend Larry Starr Dr. Mukhles Rahman, DTM Gary King John Pourdehnad ---------- Primary Issue Area * Please select up to three issue areas your work focuses on. CLIMATE, THE ENVIRONMENT, AND ENERGY Agriculture Biodiversity (e.g., wildlife and plant biodiversity) Clean Energy Climate Change Deforestation Environmental Education (e.g., nature education, environmental studies) Fishing and Aquaculture Land Rights Ocean Ecosystems GENDER EQUITY AND WOMEN Anti-Discrimination and Rights Girls' Development Girls' Education Reproductive Health Care and Family Planning HEALTH Childhood Mortality Diseases and Conditions (including research, detection and testing) Mental Health Care Public Health (e.g., physical fitness, substance abuse, environmental health) Water Quality and Access, Sanitation, and Hygiene HUMAN AND CIVIL RIGHTS Disability Rights Environmental Justice and Resource Rights Freedom of Expression and Media Individual Liberties (e.g., right to life/die/privacy/movement; freedom from torture/violence) Justice Rights (e.g., due process, capital punishment, mass incarceration) Racial Equality Social Rights (e.g., voter rights) IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES Anti-Discrimination and Civil Rights Education (e.g., language education) Legal Services and Asylum Resettlement (e.g. employment, housing, accessing services) LGBTQIA Antidiscrimination and Rights Mental Health Care and Counseling

Helping all students navigate college admissions. Working with them to think broadly, apply wisely, learn, graduate and make the world a more just place.
On July 7th, chocolate enthusiasts worldwide celebrate World Chocolate Day—a perfect excuse to enjoy chocolate delights guilt-free. From rich chocolate milk to decadent brownies, this day is about indulging in chocolate treats. But how does this relate to college? Students interested in chocolate's rich history and significant economic impact—from its origins over three thousand years ago in ancient Mesoamerica to its role as a major global commodity sustaining millions of farmers—should consider studying anthropology with a concentration in food studies. Anthropology and Food Studies majors explore food's cultural, social, and historical aspects. This interdisciplinary field examines how food practices shape and are shaped by human societies. Students delve into food culture, agricultural practices, food policies, and the global food economy. Key areas of study include food culture and traditions, agricultural practices and sustainability, food and social identity, global food systems and policies, and historical perspectives on food. Graduates can work as food anthropologists, cultural researchers, food policy analysts, museum curators, and food writers. They may also engage in community-based work, promoting sustainable food practices and food justice initiatives. Colleges Offering Anthropology and Food Studies Programs include: ▪️ New York University: NYU's Food Studies program, offered through the Steinhardt School, is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, combining food culture, policy, and business. ▪️ University of Pennsylvania: The Anthropology Department offers a concentration in Food Studies, which explores the cultural, social, and environmental aspects of food. This provides a multidisciplinary approach to understanding food systems and their impacts. ▪️ University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill: UNC offers a Food, Environment, and Sustainability concentration within its Anthropology program. This concentration examines food's role in culture and society, including its historical and contemporary significance and impact on human health and the environment. ▪️ University of California, Berkeley: The Berkeley Food Institute offers programs integrating food studies with environmental and social sciences, emphasizing sustainable food systems. By applying wisely, building confidence, and getting it right, I help students on their journey to college admission success. Manager National Careers Week Uganda. @NCWUganda.Team Leader Pamoja Careers services. Host #TVET5 Passionate about Careers Education and #TVET.
Let's engage and encourage our young people to train in culinary arts. Sometimes it is defined as art of preparation, cooking, presentation and service of food. The global culinary tourism is growing at a a rate of 17.7 % hence presenting myriad employment opportunities for our young population worldwide. However not much investment in culinary training has been made by either the public or private sector. In my duty as a #TVET champion,I hardly received inquiries about studying culinary arts from the public. As the deep rooted negative societal perceptions about #TVET start changing more efforts are needed to tackle gender blindness in most trades. At international stage IIHM Young Chef Olympiad , Worldchefs - World Association of Chefs' Societies and WorldSkills International among many are providing a great opportunity to empower and prepare young culinary students for international employment opportunities. #TVET is not limited to carpentry, engineering ,fashion and garment design as portrayed by reality on the ground. Let's engage our communities to prioritize culinary arts in training investment, student mobilization and financing. Kenya Utalii College Culinary Association of Wales

2025 WWF’s Russell E. Train Fellowships Applications are now open for the 2025 WWF’s Russell E. Train Fellowships. WWF’s Russell E. Train Education for Nature Program (EFN) invites applications from aspiring and experienced researchers, practitioners, and leaders to pursue graduate-level studies (master’s and PhD) geared towards research that cultivates a better understanding of the place-based nature of food systems and transformation. There is substantial evidence at the global scale of the urgent need for food system transformation, but less attention has been paid to how transformations toward more healthy and sustainable food systems might play out at the national level. https://lnkd.in/dZ78VZt8
