Founder - Moms At Work | Career Coach | HR Expert | Globe and Mail Top 50 Changemaker 2022 | Advocate for Pay Transparency and Working Women
Statistically speaking, one of the worst things a woman can do for their career is have a baby. Mothers are paid less than fathers, single men and women without kids. The "motherhood penalty" means that on average mothers earn 15% less than other employees, have their commitment questioned. For too long this was viewed as a women's problem. Something that individuals were tasked with fixing. Moms at Work tackles the issue from all angles. We work for working mothers. We help change workplaces, fight for legislation and support our members to make more money and build community. You shouldn't have to do this alone! Come hang out with us :) Sign up here to get our updates, free resources and be the first to know when we launch new projects. #mothers #workingparents https://lnkd.in/g3NVbrTg

Advocacy Alert! On Tuesday, 1/16/2024, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Editorial Board published an important piece: "Another budget, another chance to help Pa's struggling disability care system. https://ow.ly/GrmH50QseAl As Governor Shapiro's budget announcement nears, The Provider Alliance TPA, PAR - Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability, and other provider associations from across the state are advocating for the inclusion of increased rates for direct support professionals (DSP). "The best news Pennsylvania’s disability advocates received in years came last September, when Mr. Shapiro ordered an early review of the state’s DSP reimbursement rates. And we urged — and continue to urge — that the review take into account not just inflation, but the wage rates needed to maintain a robust, sustainable system of care." - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Editorial Board Visit the websites of provider associations to learn more and take action: The Provider Alliance: https://ow.ly/crzK50QseAq PAR: https://ow.ly/5FpQ50QseAp #MainstayPA #EnrichingLivesUnlockingPotential #Advocacy #Pennsylvania #Disability

Yesterday’s finalization of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) rule to update section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act is a historic milestone for disability rights and marks the first update to the law in 50 years. Specifically, the rule supports banning biased treatment decisions and rejecting tools that devalue life based on disability, defines accessibility standards for web-based tools, adopts the U.S. Access Board's guidelines for diagnostic medical equipment, emphasizes integrated settings, and ensures fair treatment in HHS-funded child welfare services. Muscular Dystrophy Association has been highly involved during the public comment process by providing valuable insights and perspectives to support the neuromuscular disease community, and we are excited to see this work come to fruition. Enterprise Partnerships @ Parentaly | Mission-driven marketer, B2B relationship builder, GTM seller & storyteller
Voting 🤝 Parenting Because parenthood is inherently advocacy. And when a quarter of voters in the U.S. are mothers, you better believe systemic change is within reach. Chamber of Mothers came by Parentaly to talk about their campaign, "Vote Like a Mother." What does "voting like a mother" entail, you ask? As Chamber of Mothers Co-Founder Raena Boston puts it: “It’s a rallying cry. Vote like a mother for climate change. Vote like a mother for parental leave or paid family medical leave. Vote like a mother for childcare. It's an empowered way to advocate and for moms to know the things they care about are important.” Hear the full episode below (and make sure you check your voter status!) ⤵
