Micro-entropy The classic definition of entropy describes it as a state of uniform distribution of certain binary properties (such as hot and cold) within an observed system, representing equilibrium at the macro-state level. However, it would be interesting to explore entropy at the micro-level, beyond simple binary options, and with more than two values. For instance, let’s consider a discrete 2x3 matrix (6 positions) with three possible values: Black (100% black), Gray (50% black), and White (0% black), which can occupy these positions. We will observe various states where each of these values appears twice. Two neighboring positions occupied by the same value form a connection (C). When different values occupy neighboring positions, a junction (J) is formed (e.g., B-G, G-W, B-W). A 50% value difference between neighbors is defined as a first-order junction (J1), represented by the white-gray junction, while a gray-black neighborhood forms a second-order junction (J2). States with the highest number of connections (and the lowest number of junctions) represent a higher level of organization (low entropy), such as states with C=3 and J=4. Conversely, states with C=0 and J=7 represent the highest entropy states. There are, of course, several intermediate cases between these two extremes. At the micro-level, entropy appears as a specific arrangement of discrete parts, while at the macro-level, entropy is often associated with disorder, randomness, chaos, but also with uniformity, equilibrium, death, and eternity. https://lnkd.in/eFYphXYU #entropy #disorder #chaos #death #eternity #neighbors #neighborhoods #structure #highentropy #lowentropy #positions #values #black #gray #white https://lnkd.in/eQsVZQBk
