But fortunately, now the truth of my statements has been proven. Meanwhile, these irresponsible people have endangered the lives of all living beings in general. I have always said that we are facing a new scientific phenomenon in the world that has nothing to do with fossil fuels. Therefore, because we have managed to analyze this new scientific phenomenon, we must say that we can easily cool the planet! If global average temperatures settle at 2 degrees Celsius above the preindustrial baseline, the planet could be committed to more than 40 feet of sea-level rise — a melt that would take centuries and reshape societies across the globe.

Rethinking Climate Change Solutions It’s alarming to note that significant funds are funneled into government-led initiatives, often under the guidance of global organizations like the United Nations. However, the effectiveness of these strategies in sustainable development and climate change is increasingly questioned. Are we investing in the right areas, or merely paving the way to a less green future? The focus needs to shift from purely government-driven solutions to a more holistic approach that includes preserving and restoring natural landscapes. Nature is free, infrastructure. Why do we continue to destroy it? This isn’t about dismissing the efforts made so far; it’s about enhancing them by recognizing the importance of every green space we replace with concrete. I believe it’s time for a broader conversation on how we can truly make a difference in combating climate change. What are your views on this? We know from the CMIP studies and the latest IPCC reports that negative greenhouse gas emissions are necessary to avoid severe global warming. One nature-based solution for implementing negative CO2 emissions is afforestation/reforestation. By binding CO2 in newly planted forests through the process of photosynthesis, the CO2 content in the atmosphere is reduced. However, the actual reduction potential of this method is less well known - at least to the public. How much land can be used for reforestation, leaving enough land for agriculture, industry and population? And what would be the cooling effect of this reforestation? This visualization is based on a new simulation of ambitious afforestation/reforestation for a scenario of temperature increase. By showing the change in forest area and simultaneously the temperature change for this scenario compared to a simulation with constant land use, the effects of afforestation/reforestation can be better understood. In addition to the development of the spatial patterns, the small animated graphics below also show the global effect: the development of the global mean forest area change and the temperature change compared to the reference scenario. This is worth a read, whether you're already active or still hoping to find a way to make a difference in battling our socioecological crisis. "A sense of despair is understandable, but it robs us of our agency, makes us vulnerable to mis- and disinformation, and prevents the radical collaboration we need. Doubt holds us back from taking bold action, which is why it is strategically seized upon by incumbents, who have invested millions of dollars (probably much more) in sowing uncertainty around the climate crisis and its solutions among the general public." Christiana Figueres puts it brilliantly. This is just what I needed. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to understand why some people choose to actively drive the collapse of our planets functions (even though I'm quite well versed in the complex behavioural patterns of my fellow species thanks to being to a social psychologist). This in turn adds to an increasing feeling of despair. We seem to be fighting the sort of malevolence, backed up by seemingly endless amounts of money, that feels impossible to conquer. Even if I haven't felt desperate to the point of giving up the fight, this article gives much needed inspiration to keep looking for the tools, skills and competencies, platforms and arenas - and most importantly, other people - I need and can use to strengthen my agency. #sustainability #ClimateCrisis #agency #StubbornOptimism
