March was fun! 🤩 🪩 Exciting collaboration: A highlight of the month was our new partnership with the Hoxton hotel – an international trendy energetic brand with locations across Europe and the US. Les Amis and Hoxton are united by the same values: diversity, local community, and connection —so this is a partnership made in heaven. This marks a significant step in partnering with international brands that share our values to scaling our our mission to provide unique and enriching experiences for our members globally. To open our collaboration, for one night we transformed the hotel into Members’ playground during a uniquely themed Sleepover Pyjama Party👘🍿: popcorn, karaoke, sweet corner and bubbles - what can be more fun? The event was a big success! This marks a significant step in our mission to provide unique and enriching experiences for our members. 📈 Membership demand surges: We are thrilled to report that the number of applications grew by 30% in the last month. As we still on the waitlist, and accept a limited number of applications each month, we prioritise referrals from existing Members. 🌍 Exciting Expansion: April promises to bring new adventures as we prepare to launch in our third city. Any guesses where we're off to next?

The U.S. Open gave New York’s events scene a major lift in August, helping the city see a 30% jump in event volume compared to last year, according to Knowland. While Las Vegas led the charge with a 36% increase, New York ranked second among the top 25 U.S. markets, thanks to a surge in sports tourism and sectors like travel, tech, and finance. It’s the first time since April that NYC cracked the top five growth markets. As major events draw in more visitors, the real opportunity for cities like NYC is to turn these short-term surges into lasting growth by investing in infrastructure and experiences that keep people coming back year-round. #USOpen #SportsTourism #BusinessBoom

SUCCESS = IQ x EQ x FQ I help organisations & individuals be more effective today than they were yesterday by providing innovative, emotionally-intelligent facilitation, training and speaking to improve IQ, EQ and FQ
Summary: Read the room; there's a time and a place for process I rocked up last night in Berlin for a few days of work. I'd spent all day at the CogX summit at the Royal Albert Hall and then got a late night flight. It meant I didn't get to my hotel until 12:30am, tired and ready to sleep. As I entered, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who said: "Hello Mr Aranki, we've been expecting you, you are our final check-in of the day". That was lovely 😊. He then proceeded to give me the full check-in process, showing me around the hotel, informing me of all the timings of all the services and showing me up to the room. This took 30 minutes and wasn't so lovely 😬 I'm all for customer service but at times like that, use your EQ and realise what the person in front of you values most. This is something we could all do with doing more often; we shouldn't always just follow the process. Read the room, put yourself in the other person's shoes, be more human and even better things will flow #effectiveness #StartupLife #SmallBusinessOwner #PositivePalestinian #WorkTravel #Berlin #BeMoreHuman #EQ #EmotionalIntelligence #DontAlwaysFollowTheProcess

Something positive to end the week with: an example of a destination and local collaboration that's working incredibly well - Ripon. Under the umbrella of VisitRipon*, chaired by Stuart Gill from Newby Hall, key attractions meet to share experiences and agree actions, along with Ripon Together and Nidderdale National Landscape. Thanks to the Ripon Business Improvement District and a grant for the Skell Valley Project from the The National Lottery Heritage Fund we've been able to achieve quite a lot in a short space of time. There's no-long winded decision-making, no jostling for position, no politics, no faff, just fruitful collaborative actions. Meetings are uplifting and well-attended. It's been particularly good to see how productive a BID team of 1.5 people can be! We've offered training and support to other local businesses, advice on sustainability, provided collaborative social media calendars and content, events calendar, and a new visitor newsletter. An initial comment about attracting groups quickly led to collating group travel information, some promotional materials and attendance at a key event. The BID has also worked with Chris Sands on a Totally Locally initiative. One of the most effective activities we've collaborated on was very low cost but has had a lasting impact. I noticed a journalist request from Helen Pickles for info about places with plenty to offer, but in the shadow of better known destinations and pitched the idea of Ripon (in the shadow of Harrogate). After some to-and-fro, we helped Helen convince the Telegraph to cover it. The BID and other businesses helped to host her, resulting in excellent media coverage. That article got a lot of other coverage, leading to increased local pride. In many ways that initial article was a turning point, helping locals to see their town through others' eyes, and it helped to build confidence. This was followed up with more positive publicity via the media and social media. There's a very clear understanding of how the different elements of a destination can work together for common good, recognising that hospitality venues and retailers might not be able to come to our meetings but they can benefit from the collaboration. Participants include Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal, Ripon Cathedral, Ripon Museums Trust, Ripon Races, Markenfield Hall, Himalayan Gardens and Sculpture Park, Grantley Hall, and other businesses such as accommodation providers. * it works really well, probably because it's simple and all participants recognise our shared interests and benefits of collaboration. There are no membership fees, no complicated structure, it's open to any business that feels it's relevant to them, not too many meetings, action-focus, open-minded, supportive conversations, with a little humour thrown in. And biscuits. Alexa Vernon, Jo Bussey, Sarah Robson, Tracy Morgan, Lucilla Bathurst, Leanne Fox, Daniel Chrisp, Sasha Jackson, Jonathan Mullin, Gemma Rio, David Skaith

🔆 Last Wednesday, my team and I gathered in Berlin for an offsite, and the slogan on the wall in the hotel lobby fits perfectly with our team journey: living, belonging, and growing. ➡ LIVE: It is essential to live in the present and treat each other with respect and on an equal level. As we are all human individuals with our own challenges, as well as good and bad times being part of our lives. On Wednesday, we forgot all our challenges and had a great day full of activities in Berlin. ➡ BELONG: Belonging in a team is vital for fostering unity and collaboration. It creates a supportive environment where members feel valued, understood, and empowered to contribute their best. This happens best when meeting physically and sharing positive experiences together. ➡ GROW: This team is full of knowledge, experience, and potential. How to grow it further? The best way to do it is to create trust among each other and foster a "can-do mentality," where we support and help each other to grow. As we departed Berlin, we carried with us a stronger bond and trust that we will face all challenges ahead of us as one strong sourcing team! #PeopleMakeItHappen, #GSUS
