In November last month we were invited as part of a Belgian Royal Economic mission to São Paulo, Brazil presided over by HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium, Representative of His Majesty the King. Our founding partner Eric Claeys was asked to give a personal presentation to HRH Princess Astrid about real sustainability in buildings. With the focus on how critical a role the performance of a facade plays in "keeping the sun out", a fundamental focus we covered when starting to develop our hybrid curtain-wall facade systems. As part of the hub.brussels seminar Eric was asked to speak on a specialist panel to discuss "Sustainable Construction & Energy Infrastructure". You can find further info relating to our 'Smart Solutions' including Solar Shading on our website here: https://lnkd.in/dDKm-hTr and Fassada's commitment to real sustainability here also: https://lnkd.in/dVjHh_8s With our Fassada Systems hybrid facade technologies we are introducing a new era in facade construction. If you would like to learn more on how they enable a hybrid on-site installation always from the inside of the building, at any height, then please contact one of the team. Denmark is set to implement stricter climate requirements for the construction sector starting July 1, 2025. New buildings will need to adhere to a maximum CO2e emission limit of 7.1 kg/m²/year. These regulations will impact all stages of construction and apply to a wider range of buildings, including unheated structures over 50 m² and extensions to multi-story residences and offices. "The new requirements just make it even more important to focus on construction and choice of materials in the very early phases of a project. (...) That is why we have entered into a collaboration with revalu," says Cameline Bolbroe, Head of Sustainability and Innovation at KHR Architecture “This collaboration means that our own digital material library is now part of Revalus’s extensive online database, which contains over 12,000 materials and products. This makes our work with material choices more efficient and tangible, while allowing us to better compare different solutions and assess their performance from a sustainability perspective,” explains Cameline Bolbroe. 👉 Read more about our work together with KHR Architecture here (in Danish): https://lnkd.in/eniGs4eR

❗ Sustainability ❗ Diversity ❗ Inclusion It is interesting to see how the keywords at Scandinavian construction industry events change over time. For many years, I have been travelling to construction conferences, supplier meetings and networking events in #Sweden, #Norway and #Denmark. The projects presented there have not changed that much over the years, but the way they are presented has. At the Building Network Construction Conference (#BNCC) in Copenhagen yesterday, there was no keynote speech that didn't include keywords such as sustainability, diversity, inclusion and innovation. And of course, there was a reason for this. The construction industry has an enormous carbon footprint and therefore offers huge potential for climate protection measures. Thanks, Mickey Lund from Building Network, for giving so much space to these topics at this year's conference. It was great to see how much effort the industry is now putting into becoming more sustainable. Keep it up! #architecture #construction

How can we honour the past while designing for the future? At Sweco, we believe transformation is the key. By reimagining historic buildings, we breathe new life into cultural landmarks, ensuring they remain functional and relevant for generations to come. Transforming historic spaces is about more than preservation—it's about crafting a narrative that connects the past with the present. Our approach blends architectural expertise, sustainability and innovative design to revitalise these sites, striking a delicate balance between heritage and modern functionality. “We aim to create an identity that draws inspiration from its past. You have to respect the building's history and key qualities and use them to activate a potential that brings the story to life,” says Bjørn Mogensen, Market Manager and Creative Leader, Transformation & Renovation at Sweco Denmark. Explore our latest article about how our creative solutions are transforming historic sites into vibrant spaces that inspire and endure. https://lnkd.in/d6baR-bC #SwecoGroup #TransformingSocietyTogether

To comprehend the design process from inception to completion, we need to take a broad view. Our architectural choices have implications not only for the future occupants of the structures we design but also for the surrounding ecosystem. As society becomes increasingly aware of the positive and negative impacts, we, as designers, feel accountable for intentionally shaping spaces that are conducive to human well-being and environmentally friendly. On April 23rd, we'll be in Warsaw sharing our insights about well-being at the "ESG: Path to a Sustainable Future of Construction" conference! This time, we'll delve into the correlation between designing well-being in architecture and sustaining environmental well-being. The event will also explore themes such as the utilization of low-energy materials in production, the adoption of suitable construction technologies, and the optimization of construction processes within the framework of ESG reports. The conference will take place atop the Skyliner building, offering not just insights into design processes but also a fresh perspective on Warsaw! See you there! #esg #conference #internationalconference #arkancesystemspoland #hag
