ZLUDA. No, not having a stroke. I'm talking about this project - https://lnkd.in/gnV2GR9u It's a project that (apparently) AMD's been funding, and it allows unmodified CUDA apps to run on AMD Radeon GPUs at near-native performance! The kicker? It seems to run faster than RoCM (HIP) implementations in apps like Blender! Michael Larabel over at Phoronix did some amazing work as usual and ran some tests that were quite illuminating. Do check out their article here: https://lnkd.in/gMgxKW59 Of course, Optix isn't supported yet and toggling it on will paint a very different picture, but hopefully this is a sign of better competition in the creative and professional applications space.
