Yesterday, it was a beautiful day in New York, and we stepped away from our screens to tap into our creative sides through some drawing at the gardens near us. It was a short break, around 30 minutes, but it was such a nice reset for our minds and bodies. We’ve decided to have these weekly draw breaks as part of our commitment to cultivating a thriving, human-centric workplace culture. After all, tapping into creativity and wonder is essential for well-being and work innovation (something we advocate to our clients all the time!) So if you're looking for a simple, fun way to boost wellbeing and bring more of the "human" back into your workplace culture, we highly recommend giving drawing breaks a try, or figure out together with your team what activities might spark joy. Let us know what has worked for your team! #WorkplaceWellbeing #WednesdayWellness #CompanyCulture #EmployeeEngagement

"Ever heard of 'Motivation Entropy' in the world of work? It's like the fading energy or enthusiasm for a task as time goes on. Imagine starting a project with high spirits, but over time, the initial excitement fades, and things may seem a bit scattered. Think of it like planting a garden at the office. At first, everyone is excited, motivated, and ready to nurture the project. As weeks pass, if there's no ongoing enthusiasm or effort to keep things organized, it's like the garden starts to lose its vibrancy. That's Motivation Entropy – the gradual decline in the energy and orderliness of our work. Now, how do we combat Motivation Entropy in a work culture? Just as we tend our garden by regularly watering and caring for it, teams can rejuvenate motivation by injecting fresh ideas, setting new goals, or acknowledging achievements. It's about fostering a culture that values continuous improvement. Consider regular team check-ins, where everyone can share progress, challenges, and wins. This not only keeps everyone in the loop but also reinforces a sense of shared purpose. Introduce occasional team-building activities or workshops to break the routine and infuse a burst of energy. Recognition is a powerful tool. Highlight individual and team accomplishments, creating a positive feedback loop that fuels motivation. It's like planting colorful flowers in your office garden, adding vibrancy to the workspace. Moreover, encourage open communication. If someone feels their enthusiasm waning, create an environment where they can express concerns, provide feedback, and collaboratively find solutions. This not only addresses issues promptly but also prevents motivation from dwindling. Remember, addressing Motivation Entropy isn't about avoiding the natural ebb and flow of motivation but finding proactive ways to keep the workplace garden perpetually flourishing. 🌱✨ #WorkCulture #MotivationEntropy #TeamEngagement #HRStrategies

At Robertson Cooper, we believe in creating more Good Days at Work because it’s the foundation of everything from individual wellbeing to business performance. A good day at work isn’t just about ticking tasks off a list. It’s about feeling supported, engaged, and equipped to bring out your best. We know that when people are energised and motivated, productivity flows naturally. They’re more collaborative, resilient, and inspired; leading to genuine results that impact the bottom line. Our framework focuses on the Six Essentials that make a difference to daily work life: resources and communication, control, balanced workload, job security, positive work relationships, and working conditions. When these essentials are met, Good Days at Work become the norm, not the exception. So, what makes a good day at work for you? #gooddaysatwork #employeeengagement #wellbeing

Healthy Workplace Month Check-in! At McLuhan and Davies Communications, Inc., one of our core priorities is creating a safe learning and work environment where everyone feels comfortable to share and grow together. We lead with empathy inside the classroom and around the "office". We polled our head office team and here's what they had to say: 1. We are quick to support each other AND respectful in all of our discussions. 2. We acknowledge everyone is human and we respect people’s time. 3. We encourage everyone to chime in and we are open to new ideas. How does your workplace support your employee's well-being?

This course was a great experience. It provides practical tips for changing habits to improve productivity and overall well-being. The second chapter, "Establish a New Approach to Habits," was particularly valuable. It teaches you how to identify your tendencies by monitoring your activities and use them to build better habits. Gretchen Rubin's advice on how to customize habit formation to fit your personality shows why some strategies work better for certain people (see Chapter 1: Know yourself). I sometimes procrastinate and her advice on scheduling is something I will definitely try out. Overall, the course is concise and actionable, so it will be easy to apply the lessons to daily life and work. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their workplace habits and life habits in general.
