I’ve got a bit of a story for you all. As some of you might know, I recently purchased a charming terrace house. It’s got that quintessential British charm, with all the quirks and surprises that come with it. So, we’re in the midst of renovations, right? And we peel back one of the flooring, expecting the usual suspects—dust, maybe some ancient linoleum. But what do we find instead? Sand. right underneath the flooring. At first, we’re scratching our heads, thinking, “What on earth is this all about?” Turns out, back in the day, they used sand to level out and strengthen the flooring. Who knew? The layers of history you uncover in these old houses are just fascinating. Anyway, we had to dig it and use some good old cement to properly strengthen it.
