My summary of Polkadot @ #ETHDenver 1. First Polkadot conference since the decentralisation of Parity's marketing and sales functions and it worked really well. This time, I was not sent by Parity, but invited by the ecosystem, and this made for a great vibe. 2. You feel the bull market. Arrived with an empty bag (I wasn't prepared to travel from 30°C Spain to the mountains) and got fully equipped on Day 1. 3. Showing up with the entire ecosystem properly showcases the value of composability. Being able to point at teams saying "this NFT marketplace uses KILT Protocol's login screen" made everyone's eyes shine. 4. Tested new positioning statements: - "Backbone of the free web" works well with press and social, - "Web3 cloud" is a great start to talk about development and economic flexibility for builders, and - the good ol' "L0" is still king for those who are trying to place Polkadot within the Web3 stack. 5. The fact that Agile Coretime removes parachain aucions and lets projects choose their pricing model freely made people really excited. Excited for the next one!
Is there still value in traveling long distances to promote your Web3 project? Parity's Natalie Tillack has finally had a chance to reflect on a busy time on the Polkadot stand at ETHDenver - and for her, this particular experience was extremely positive. Natalie notes: "Many attendees I spoke to shared how they've been aware of Polkadot's momentum and thriving ecosystem. A few teams even revealed they were in late-stage evaluations to deploy on Polkadot over other platforms." Read her article now! ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ePssFy_H

Last week I learnt a new word Ubuntu while at the #SouthAfricanChamberofCommerce (SACC) networking event. Ubuntu encapsulates the belief of human kindness. The business philosophy of ubuntu emphasizes a community focused environment and the importance of being inclusive in the workplace. I think it is a great word if ever it can be described in one breath! #ubuntu #sacc #xhosa #networking #internationalnetwork #inclusionmatters #inclusiveteamleadership #humankindness #learningeveryday #businessvalues

💡Ahh, hackathons… events where everyone wants to be the best. Hackathons are characterized as a ring where participants can test the most out-of-the box ideas and be observed by experts and companies. Being part of such an event involves the chance to present your solutions to experts and receive quick feedback on how to improve your idea. Did you know that the first hackathon ever was the OpenBSD Hackathon in Calgary, Canada, on June 4, 1999? 🤓By the time hackathons become an event, not just for developers but also for everyone who is inventive, passionate, and can bring value to solving the challenge. Deeptech Gigahack🦾, the largest hackathon in Moldova, gives you the freedom to test, collaborate, and brainstorm your ideas. Developing a community means involving people and connecting them with the same purpose. Our purpose is - to solve real-life challenges and give you the chance to realize your ideas by connecting with the right people. #deeptechgigahack #deeptech #moldova #chisinau #technovator

Behind each delivered laptop stands the daily work of our team on both the U.S. and Ukrainian sides. When the Digital Wings program first started, Yaryna Taras was given not an easy task – she became responsible for the initial outreach to the applicants to learn more about their situation: “I understand that I'll have to communicate with people from whom the most valuable thing has been taken by this war - the lives of their parents! How do I ask them to tell their story? How do I remain as restrained as possible and not show my own emotions? I really didn't want to cause pain to the applicants on the other end of the line. After all, they will have to revisit the most horrifying moments of their lives once again. And each time, I search for the right formula for such a conversation. Each story is similar, unfortunately. But each of these stories is yet another measure of the unspeakable sorrow of our entire country. The second part of my work didn’t seem to be easy either. Ahead of us, our team had personal meetings with participants of the program. Most of them were children of Ukrainian soldiers who had died on the battlefield. For many, this loss was still very fresh. I couldn't predict how the kids would react to our visits. And each meeting is truly unique. Each child reacts to the laptop differently. Some kids are reserved, while others leap with joy toward the ceiling. Some talk about how they will now be able to study programming fully, while others ask if they can play their dream computer games. And it's so heartening! Because these children have the right to a childhood and education! Unfortunately, no gift can bring their parents back. To our question "What do you dream about the most?" - every child dreams of an end to the war. Each of these children is a reflection of hope for a brighter future. Their strength inspires all of us! Every meeting with our participants is like medicine for me. And every meeting opens the path to healing from all this despair!” Please support the work of our team and help us help more children in Ukraine get access to education during these challenging times: https://lnkd.in/g_AwMFBD #ukraine #ukrainefriends #team #laptops #children #tech #education #humanitarianaid #standwithukraine #supportukraine

🌍 Ubuntu: I Am Because We Are 🤝 Today, let’s talk about a concept deeply rooted in African philosophy – Ubuntu. 🌱 Ubuntu can be translated as "I am because we are," It's more than just a philosophy; it's a way of life that encourages empathy, compassion, and a sense of shared responsibility. 🌟 In a world that often emphasizes individualism, Ubuntu reminds us that our well-being is intertwined with the well-being of others. It's a reminder that by supporting and uplifting each other, we collectively thrive. 🌈 As we navigate through challenges and opportunities, Ubuntu holds invaluable lessons. Here are a few takeaways: 🤝 Interdependence: Just as the cells of our body rely on each other, humanity thrives when we collaborate and support one another. It's not about "you or me," but rather "you and me." 🌱 Empathy and Compassion: Ubuntu encourages us to see the humanity in everyone, regardless of their background, culture, or beliefs. By practicing empathy, we foster understanding and create bridges between diverse perspectives. 📚 Learning from Each Other: Ubuntu promotes the idea that everyone has something valuable to contribute. Embracing this notion can lead to a rich exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences. 🌍 Global Citizenship: In our increasingly interconnected world, Ubuntu can guide us towards becoming responsible global citizens. By recognizing our shared humanity, we can address global challenges collectively. 💬 Starting Conversations: Let's engage in conversations about Ubuntu in our workplaces, communities, and educational institutions. By sharing stories of how Ubuntu manifests in our lives, we inspire positive change. As we harness the power of technology to connect across borders, let's not forget the essence of Ubuntu that has existed for generations. Let's remember that our success is intertwined, our stories are interconnected, and our progress is a shared endeavor. Together, we can create a world that truly embodies the idea of "I am because we are." 🌍🤝 #ubuntu #humanityfirst #inclusivity #unityindiversity #interconnectedness #empathy #learning #hustle

"As champions of lifelong learning, libraries are a place to quench curiosity, access technology, and explore new ideas, hobbies, and careers. Increasingly, libraries also offer patrons a welcoming space to meet their neighbors to discuss and resolve important issues." We made it to the top! ⬆️ VPL's Inspiration Lab, made possible by community support, is the first example of libraries making this space, offering access to technology, and then watching community connection and creativity unfold. https://lnkd.in/gE6BAT5M
