Another #promotion!!!! For the second time in less than one year, I’ve promoted another one of my #HR staff. #internalpromotions #careermobility The first promotion seemed like a #nobrainer. The second ‘appeared’ to be a gamble and as she would say, I may #believe in her more than she believes in herself. But she ISN’T THE FIRST staff that I’ve taken a #chance on, and she WON’T BE MY LAST. Am I highly #selective of the #talent that joins my #team? Guilty. Do I #invest in my #people and fight for them? Without reservation. Am I #performancedriven and manage my #team according to high #performancestandards? Unapologetically yes. Do I create #opportunities for both internal and external #talent? It is my obligation. Who, on your team, deserves a chance of #career #progression this year? If you're striving to build your career or build High-Performing teams, I'm sorry to tell you this: - No one has ever BUILT a high performing team. - No one has ever stopped recruiting and developing their team. = Forever BUILDING. Teams are living and breathing - they constantly change and require attention and nurturing. The same applies to you. "There are no winners or losers in an infinite game" (Simon Sinek) - there is only ahead and behind. As a recruiter of 20 years I’ve seen organisations take the short-sighted, finite approach to building talent. I also seen individuals take the same approach to, what they think will, build their career. Both get left behind. They make poor choices because of a lack of patience and thinking too short term, in a rush to get more now, often without first doing the work and bringing the required value. When it comes to building High-Performing teams and recruiting amazing talent it's the same as progressing your career: 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐭 - 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 And thank goodness.
