‘Target launches a $49 subscription service for customers wanting quick delivery’ Not sure what to make of this. Target is obviously very late to the paid loyalty program party. And trailing Walmart and Amazon on same-day delivery. Is there demand to pay for Target same-day delivery? [vs free drive up, which continues to grow] Does it improve Shipt unit economics? [cut 3% staffing in October] Doubtful. Since same-day orders aren’t combined with next-day orders. [to improve driver route density] Interested to see how this service performs. #ecommerce #retailing #samedaydelivery

They've been testing a discounted same day subscription offer through their app over the last few months. As a RedCard holder, not sure that there is enough value in paying even $49/year just to get the same day services. I could be at a store to do curbside within 10 min 🤷♀️

This is a little VOC, lol...I'm a Shipt member and 99% of my orders come from Target. Based in MN, we LOVE Target, and we LOVE the convenience of ordering groceries and having them delivered. Sure, we could pick them up at the store that's 2 miles away, but we're busy working and hauling kids around to activities. Pickup is one less thing. As I follow the space, I think delivery will continue to evolve and the battle between pickup and delivery will continue for some time and I don't think there will be a clear winner. We still shop in the store too...our culture has created omni-channel, and retailers need to meet the consumers where they are on any given day. I do think this move cannibalizes Shipt for Target shoppers, which is interesting.

Target's $49 subscription feels like playing catch-up. Will customers see the value, or is free drive-up still the preferred choice? How will this impact Shipt's operations and customer satisfaction? Curious to witness the outcome.

Feels a bit odd - from what I’m reading these are ‘normal’ customer expectations and widely available via other sources - not sure I see incremental value

I don't know, I might spend $49.00 per year to avoid spending $490.00 per Target visit in additional things I didn't need to buy... 🤣 Seems like a smart investment.

I don't get it either. Lots of smart moves; this isn't one of them. Neither was trans onesies.

Are you sure they don’t mix same day in with next day? I’ve definitely had next day orders delivered by Shipt drivers.
