Invest in the Right Tools: To make collaboration easier, provide your team with video conferencing equipment, communication platforms, and project management software. Respect Time Zones & Schedules: When planning a meeting, consider time zone differences. Promote flexible work schedules while keeping regular times for teamwork. 🚏Navigating In-Person and Remote Team Dynamics I have always been proud of how our teams collaborate. The key to that success is, of course, the people but the specific strategies we integrated into team gatherings surely helped. Our goal was to avoid the 1-2 day “onsite” with nothing but scheduled speakers. Things have changed in recent years, adding remote complexity, but here are a few thoughts: 🤝 In-Person Advantages: The energy of face-to-face interactions is unmatched. Make it happen if you can. Leveraging these opportunities, we use spontaneous brainstorming sessions and direct feedback to foster a deeply collaborative environment, enhancing both creativity and productivity. 🙋Facilitation Techniques: Mix things up using the Open Practice Library (OPL). Initiated by Red Hat Open Innovation Labs, OPL offers a range of facilitation techniques that are crucial for guiding our team through various stages, from initial brainstorming to final delivery. These techniques can help both in-person and remote workflows. 💻 Remote Challenges: Distance can create barriers to communication and collaboration. I’d be lying if I didn’t say it’s been imperfect. Embrace the imperfection and iterate to find what works for your people. We tackle this by emphasizing clear, open communication channels and virtual meet-ups to keep everyone connected and engaged. I am a believer in investing in all teams to allow them to bond in person at least once per year. 🛠 Tools That Help: Tools like Slack for communication, Trello for task management, Miro for real-time collaboration are indispensable. They sync seamlessly with the facilitation techniques from the Open Practice Library, allowing us to maintain productivity and connectivity. What have you found that works or doesn’t work in this new hybrid world? Do you have any tool recommendations to share? #TeamManagement #OpenPracticeLibrary #RemoteWork #Leadership
