We are pleased to share an important study presented by Dr. Amanda Farrell, Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Dr. Denis Vaughan, MD, FACOG, MRCPI, Reproductive Endocrinologist and Director of Research at Boston IVF. 🔍 This study examines the perinatal outcomes of programmed frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles compared to modified natural FET cycles. The conclusion? No significant differences were found in clinical outcomes between the two methods. A comprehensive meta-analysis has revealed promising treatments for women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) undergoing assisted reproductive technology. Key findings: • Testosterone supplementation increased live birth odds by 2.19 times • DHEA and delayed-start protocols improved egg retrieval • High-dose gonadotropin regimens retrieved more eggs, but didn't necessarily improve live birth rates This research, analyzing 38 randomized controlled trials with 7,601 patients, provides strong evidence for tailoring treatment protocols. Miaomiao Ban and team at National Research Center for Assisted Reproductive Technology and Reproductive Genetics, Shandong, shows how hepatic fat accumulation was more likely in response to the metabolic consequences of high-fat overfeeding in IVF F2 offspring, and recommend that the metabolic health of the IVF offspring and their descendants should be regularly monitored for the early prevention of metabolically related diseases. This new interview-based study from a team at Maastricht University examines the levels of understanding, attitudes and considerations regarding preconception carrier screening (PCS) among patients seeking in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). The overall positive attitudes towards PCS among IVF/ICSI couples found in the results were primarily related to the desire to make an informed reproductive choice and to increase the chances of conceiving a healthy child. Nevertheless, the authors also note that offering PCS to patients applying for IVF/ICSI treatment may present both couples and healthcare professionals with concerns that are unique to the IVF/ICSI patient population, such as misconceptions, treatment delays and potential reproductive dilemmas.
