You're stubborn. You like to make decisions yourself. And feel like you came to conclusions without the help of others. Me too. In fact, we all do. Including your readers. So, if you tackle persuasion head-on, you end up being very direct – and often too literal. To your reader, it's then obvious what you're trying to do. Now, of course, **sometimes** that is the best option. But often, it’s not… Because the biggest motivators in decision-making are unconscious - and a bit crude (e.g. to have more money, to look better, to boost our ego, to show off to others). So, if you explicitly pull those levers, you end up slyly insulting your reader. Instead, you need to charm. You need to dance with the reader. You need to play with the implicit. And by doing so, you encourage the reader to come to the conclusion themselves. Your delivery will then be a lot more tactful (and a lot less vulgar). And you bypass natural resistance barriers to speak to the real decision-maker. The subconscious. The result? Your reader feels good saying yes. #copywriting #persuasion
