Imagine navigating Spaghetti Junction at 180mph while the Big Dipper whizzes over your head and some kid yeets their pool noodle onto the track... Bit far-fetched? Maybe this track is, too. Saudi Arabia has announced its plan for a new F1 Grand Prix venue. The new circuit would replace Jeddah as Round 2 of the calendar and features a 20-storey-high elevation to Turn 1... Just when we thought F1 couldn't get any more glamorous than Las Vegas... - The track will feature a theme park with the tallest, longest and fastest rollercoaster entangling with the circuit (all of the superlatives... widest? Unnecessaryist? Over-the-top-for-the-sake-of-it-ist?) - There'll be a swimming pool with a glass bottom which overlooks part of the track (a very very safe and sensible idea) - And this all feeds into F1's $half-a-billion deal with the Saudi Arabian government and Aramco (both very ethical and humane don't worry) Expect tickets to start from a year's worth of mortgage payments. And don't forget your trunks and snorkel. Am I being a grumpy arse wishing for classic tracks to return to the calendar or am I just shit at Rainbow Road and spitting the dummy out? Interested to see what others think about this news. P.S. Mario Kart x F1? Would be pretty sick ngl. #Formula1 #Motorsport #Copywriting #SaudiArabianGP
I’m all for Jeddah getting replaced but not by rainbow road 😬
20 story elevation?! 😲 Would the Alpine even make it up there?
Lewis Houghton All very ethical and humane... Good to know!
F1 on steroids. We'll look back on this in years to come and shake our heads in disbelief or it'll just be added, we'll watch it and it'll become the norm.
I must say, I’m a fan of the older tracks. I was at Monza in 2022 and went onto the old banking and I wish they still raced that section (if it was safe). Looked immense. I’d prefer to see more ‘heritage’ tracks on the calendar.
Couldn’t agree more, Lewis. Totally OTT. Bring back more of the original circuits if they want to mix the calendar up a bit. True F1 race fans just want to see the racing, not the spectacle.
Anyone seen the film Speed Racer? That's where we're heading
It looks pretty cool in the video ngl. I’ve got concerns about this corner elevation tho….better be some extremely thick and tall barriers 😰

7moI'm sure there is a middle ground to this, maybe tracks need to get more interesting, but do we need to be on an LSD trip whilst there?
