"In this episode of New Ideal Live, Onkar Ghate and Nikos Sotirakopoulos discuss why and how DEI has become so dominant in American institutions, from universities to corporate businesses, despite its questionable nature. Among the topics covered: ● How DEI is sold as a form of justice for historically marginalized groups; ● How “diversity” relies on a package deal; ● How “inclusion” results in moral relativism; ● How “equity” means equality of results irrespective of merit; ● Why business leaders are unable to resist DEI despite its impracticality."

As a person born into privilege enabled by exploitation, our responsibility is clear: to step back, to listen, and to amplify the voices of the majority world, ensuring they have their rightful place at the table. We must move beyond the comfort of debate and discourse at our desks and take concrete action through collective efforts for systemic change. Our role is to leverage our privilege not to speak for others, but to clear a path for them to lead the conversation. True progress demands that we stop intellectualizing and start enabling collective action - because justice delayed is justice denied.

This case is another example of why Mississippi needs and Anti-SLAPP law. As the Fifth Circuit found, it cannot be defamatory to offer your opinion based on disclosed facts. That is absolutely protected by the First Amendment. But, in Mississippi we let people file defamation lawsuits that have no plausible chance of success in order to chill speech. When lawsuits are filed that cannot survive a motion to dismiss, the defendant should be able to recover their attorney fees. Otherwise, just filing the lawsuit is enough to chill speech. Many commentators do not have the resources to hire an amazing team like Mike Hurst, Mary Ellen Roy, and Mark Fijman. Adopting the Uniform Law Commission's model Anti-SLAPP law could change that. It would also ensure that all Mississippians could offer commentary on issues of public concern without getting sued by someone that doesn't like that opinion.
A great win for our client, Shannon Sharpe, and every American, as the Fifth Circuit affirms the constitutional right to strongly state opinions based on truthful, established facts pursuant to the First Amendment. A significant victory for freedom of speech in this country! True team effort with this win. Special thanks to the Phelps Dunbar LLP team (Mary Ellen Roy, Mark Fijman, Jim Shelson), the Williams & Connolly LLP team (Joe Terry, Tyler Infinger, Amy Saharia), the Fox Corporation team (Nicholas A. Trutanich, Erin Eisner, Michael Kaiser, & Stephen Wu), and Erin Murphy.

What’s amazing about this protest is the students here [GUEST] on “Student Visas” afforded by a corrupted US State Department under Biden. All assume they have the rights afforded an American! [The Greatest Country in the World], hands down! The current [weak] president WILL be voted out, bottom line! The Facts; 1. It’s crucial to recognize that non-immigrant visas do not automatically grant the same rights as U.S. citizens or permanent residents. 2. Student visa holders are subject to specific regulations, including maintaining full-time enrollment, reporting address changes, and adhering to visa expiration dates. 3. While they enjoy certain privileges, they do not have the same voting rights, or protection under the First Amendment as [REAL] Americans! There's a simple solution, cancel their Visas and deport them! The University of Iran is offering FREE scholarships, let them go there and protest!
The NYPD is unafraid to say it. We are proud to be American. We are proud to protect New York City and uphold our nation’s sacred principles of freedom, justice and democracy. It’s what defines the American spirit. We will always defend everyone’s right to free speech while ensuring public safety in the greatest city in the world.

On this World Day for International Justice, we stand united in our commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice prevails. Eleanor Roosevelt, who envisioned a system of collective security among nations creating lasting peace, reflected upon American inaction against the Nazis in a 1946 speech: “I have the feeling that we let our consciences realize too late the need of standing up against something that we knew was wrong,” she said. “We have therefore had to avenge it, but we did nothing to prevent it. I hope that in the future, we are going to remember that there can be no compromise at any point with the things that we know are wrong.” For this reason, international justice mechanisms, such as the International Criminal Court (ICC), are crucial to holding perpetrators of grave human rights violations accountable. As our world continues to grapple with injustices, now is the time to act. Heal pain. Teach change. Shape history. Join us.

You cannot create history without first acknowledging those who paved the way. Honoring the work of those who came before me is essential in creating lasting change. Let's be intentional and authentic in our efforts to fill the gap between communities and law enforcement. It's not always easy, but the rewards of creating positive impact are worth it. Let's continue paying it forward. #beintentional #beauthentic #payingitforward
