As part of its ongoing effort to curb deceptive and misleading uses of artificial intelligence, the Federal Trade Commission recently announced new enforcement actions against five companies. The enforcement action involved companies making misleading claims about the capabilities of their AI services including “AI lawyers” and AI “writing assistants.” The action also targeted companies that used AI to defraud customers through “business opportunity” schemes. In announcing the enforcement actions, the FTC reiterated that the agency will continue to hold AI companies to the same standards for honest-business conduct that apply to every industry. This action highlights the importance of using AI responsibly and in a transparent manner. #ftc #ai #artificialintelligence
