RNP240801083571 disappointed with the quality of my LG fridge. Just 30 days ago, I faced a cooling issue and had an LG engineer visit to resolve it. The gas was refilled, I was charged ₹2700 for the service.
Now, within a month, I'm experiencing the same cooling problem again.
I am happy to share this article entitled ' Carbon Sequestration and Community-Based Conservation: A Holistic Approach to Environmental Stewardship by Simi Talukdar published on our website YesEarth. In this article, she has highlighted an important environmental aspect.

Have you ever driven past a Christmas tree sale and wondered if chopping down, and inevitably disposing of, that many trees has a negative environmental impact?
Turns out Christmas tree farms can help their communities thrive environmentally and economically. Find out how in the new installment of our monthly newsletter, The Solutions Effect.
World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5th, is a global platform for raising awareness and taking action on pressing environmental issues. It serves as a day for encouraging worldwide engagement in environmental protection. Each year, millions of people across the globe participate in activities aimed at promoting a healthier planet.
In line with the spirit of World Environment Day, the Astonea Foundation has launched a commendable initiative aimed at fostering a greener future. The foundation is deeply committed to combating environmental challenges through innovative and impactful projects. One of the cornerstone efforts of this initiative is the "Plant More Trees" campaign, which seeks to enhance green cover and contribute to the fight against climate change.
Trees play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance. They absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, improve air quality, conserve water, preserve soil, and support wildlife. Recognizing these benefits, the Astonea Foundation has embarked on a mission to plant trees in various communities, urban areas, and degraded landscapes. By doing so, they aim to restore natural habitats, reduce carbon footprints, and promote environmental sustainability.
A key aspect of the Astonea Foundation’s initiative is community engagement. Understanding that lasting change can only be achieved through collective effort, the foundation encourages individuals, businesses, and local organizations to participate in tree planting activities. To kickstart this green movement, the foundation has distributed over 250+ plants to employees, underscoring its commitment to leading by example. This gesture not only contributes to immediate greening efforts but also inspires employees to become active participants in environmental conservation.
World Environment Day serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the planet. The Astonea Foundation’s initiative to plant more trees exemplifies how organizations can lead by example and inspire broader community participation.
Let us all join hands in this noble endeavor and make every tree count. Together, we can grow a greener future for generations to come.
🔑 Collaboration is key.
Dan Lambe, CEO of Arbor Day Foundation calls for companies to work together to rebuild trust in the voluntary carbon markets in an article for TIME.
He explains that publicly sharing details of corporate forest conservation efforts is part of the solution. If more people are transparent, it encourages others to do the same. David said:
“As individuals, we are often inclined to trust the opinions of those who are like us. A similar concept applies here. Market leaders and environmental experts can constantly encourage corporations to get involved in the market, but our plea will never hold as much weight as the endorsement of a peer.”

Nature-based solutions” are gaining momentum in environmental policy, including in Australia. They involve working with nature to protect, restore or manage ecosystems in a way that benefits both people and the environment.
This might include restoring coastal mangroves to protect a community from coastal erosion, or replanting forests to store carbon, provide cleaner air, and create habitat for wildlife
While farmers in Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and other northern European countries are protesting against what they see as stifling European regulations, such as the EU Green Deal, environmental legislation, farmers in southern Europe suffer the effects of drought in landscapes that are ecologically depleted. Meanwhile, land is being abandoned, farmers are getting older, and consumers do not want to pay the real price for food or for environmental externalities.
In our latest report, co-authored with The Nature Conservancy, World Resources Institute, Climate-KIC, Gold Standard and others, we propose new financing models that share the burden across societal sectors if we are to meet the many European targets that include climate and nature from a landscape approach. But more importantly, we believe this will contribute to address the "farmers crisis" to transform the current agricultural system as part of building resilience landscapes.

As we focus on our tree planting agenda, we as Mazingira Smart team understands the importance of community involvement in tree planting and nurturing. By involving local communities, we create awareness to the community members on the importance of environmental conservation. By so doing the local community becomes the stewards of environment. Our approach is to plant trees and have local community as the custodian for survival of those trees. This can only happen when the local community appreciates the importance of tree planting in environmental conservation. When we bring together local community members to plant trees, they also share knowledge about the importance of trees, the benefits they provide, and how to care for them. This exchange of information helps build a community that appreciates environmental conservation, which ensures sustainability of our tree planting and nurturing.
