Our 2030 Sustainability Strategy was developed by a cross-functional team that collected extensive feedback from key stakeholders to understand their perception of Sucafina’s environmental and social impacts and the critical issues for our industry. The feedback was then distilled into three key action pillars: ‘Investing in Farmers’, ‘Caring for People’, and ‘Protecting Our Planet’. 👩🌾 #InvestingInFarmers is the first pillar you'll find while reading our 2023 Sustainability Report, alongside some practical examples of how we've been working towards implementing it in Rwanda, Tanzania and Papua New Guinea. This milestone highlights Kenya Bixa’s commitment to sustainability, positioning it among the leaders in responsible business practices in Kenya. What an insightful introduction session. I can’t wait for sustainability strategy session 😁
Yesterday marked the commencement of our Africa Sustainability Fellowship program. Dr. Edward Mungai led an insightful session, with particular emphasis on the concept of "Me LTD." As sustainability professionals, it is one thing to be aware of the risks our world and businesses will face in the coming years, but it's another to consider what actions we can take to address them. The purpose of this fellowship is to mobilize sustainability action among esteemed practitioners across Africa and to co-create solutions that will improve our continent.Over the course of the next three months, we will be working closely together with these sustainability professionals towards this goal. We are very enthusiastic about this initiative and cannot wait to see the impact it will have on Africa. However, ambitious projects come with challenges. Before joining the program, Towards SDGs faced obstacles hindering growth. Operating without formal registration compromised legal adherence and impacted market reach and revenue. The focus on the environment overshadowed social and governance components, leading to isolation within the industry.
