It was during an expo that we met Mr. Grant with a unique request. Mr. Grant explained the dire situation in the industrial district, where toxic gas clouds often formed, posing a significant threat to the safety and health of the workers and residents nearby. "I need a system that can swiftly dilute and washdown these hazardous gas clouds," Mr. Grant implored, desperation evident in his voice. We showed and explained the possibilities of the Turbine Response System (TRS). The TRS is a technical marvel, equipped with gas turbines and an advanced and patented nozzle that is able to quickly dilute and precipitate toxic gases with a water mist. Excited by the prospect of finally tackling the gas cloud problem, Mr. Grant eagerly purchased the TRS and wasted no time in deploying it to the industrial district. During its first run, the TRS sprang into action with impressive efficiency. As toxic gas clouds began to form, the turbines came to life and sprayed a gigantic cloud of mist over and into the toxic gas clouds. Within minutes, the once ominous clouds cleared, thinned and washed away. The success of the TRS spread like wildfire throughout the area. We were inundated with requests from other industrial areas struggling with similar environmental challenges. Yet, amid the praise and recognition, we remained grounded, driven not by fame or fortune, but by a genuine desire to make a difference. https://lnkd.in/epcJY_N4

Delighted to share that I'll be presenting " Ensuring Pipeline safety for Carbon capture and Storage (CCS) through Real-time monitoring and leak detection” at the 2024 API Pipeline Conference and Expo: Pipeline, Control Room and Cybernetics in Salt Lake City, UT. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is crucial for decarbonization in the energy sector. Pipelines are essential for efficient CCS projects, providing cost-effective transport of CO2. Preventing leaks is crucial due to the high-pressure and low-temperature conditions of CO2 transport. Real-time simulation-based methods can effectively monitor the pipeline infrastructure and detect potential leaks quickly. This presentation explores the challenges and opportunities of real-time leak detection in CCS. 📍 When? Monday, May 6 | 2:10 p.m. – 2:40 p.m. PT 🌐Want to learn more? Please DM me or catch up with me at booth 502! #DNV #APIPipelineConference2024, #PipelineSafety #CarbonCaptureStorage #LeakDetection

Dear Collegues The Impact of Electricity Market Interventions by System Operators during Emergency Situations is published by Joint WG C2/C5.06. Great job and thanks to WG Secretary Vivek Pandey and Convenior Jan van Putten. When the electricity system is in an emergency state, technical options are not the only means of mitigation; directly or indirectly market interventions by system operators are also common. In this Technical Brochure (TB), the impact on market actors is explored and an overview of the consequences of certain measures is presented. These is for sure one of the essential work dealing with System and Markets in todays’ emergencies - tornados, heat waves, unpredictable winter conditions and others , caused to interventions in Markets. Proud to be small part of such a great team of colleagues throughout the world. Continuing our #CompressedAir series with some information on capturing and using waste heat from air compressors. It is estimate that 80 to 93% of compressor input electricity is converted to waste heat. Of this, about 50 to 90% is recoverable. This heat can then be used for useful work, such as: space heating, process heating, water heating, and boiler water preheating. The Alabama Industrial Assessment Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) can analyze the current energy usage of your facilities compressed air systems and investigate possible opportunities to recover waste heat. The PROBLEM with Thermal Runaway: Within an ESS are hundreds or even thousands of lithium-ion cells, any of which can experience an unpredictable phenomenon called “thermal runaway,” causing a battery to potentially reach temperatures of more than 1000°C, release flammable gases, emit smoke and catch fire. The hazard will continue to propagate throughout the battery module and into adjacent modules, and often results in a large-scale fire or explosion. Many have tried to solve thermal runaway with clean agents, water mist aerosols and more. These solutions have the ability to suppress battery fires, but internal testing and evidence from real-world situations have proven that they are ineffective at solving the thermal management problem of thermal runaway, resulting in battery cells with a high change to re-ignite. This extremely difficult challenge has slowed the full adoption of energy storage systems and the embracing of alternate forms of power generation and storage into populated environments. SF6 is a synthetic, odourless gas that’s used in the electricity transmission interconnection industry to keep networks running safely and reliably. SF6 is one of the most potent greenhouse gases we know. In fact, it’s estimated that, over a 100-year period, SF6 is 23,500 times more effective at trapping infrared radiation than CO2, it has an atmospheric lifetime of 3,200 years. Around 80% of the SF6 used globally is in electricity transmission and distribution and high-voltage electrical equipment contains SF6 to insulate the live electrical parts and to switch the flow of electrical current on and off. To prevent more harmful SF6 being released into our atmosphere new solutions are being developed. But what happens to the existing SF6 gas. Well good news, F gases including SF6 are totally destroyed in the CTEC gasification system. Happy days 👍 www.ctecenergy.co.uk

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission recently issued Order 896 to bolster electric grid reliability during extreme weather events. This significant step requires grid planners to incorporate a new approach to long-term transmission planning. To support this important effort, EPRI, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and the North American Transmission Forum, Inc. (NATF) are hosting a workshop in Dallas, TX, from May 29-30, 2024, discussing the implications of FERC Order No. 896 and the upcoming TPL-008 draft standard regarding #extremeweather impacts. https://cvent.me/2enlq The workshop will bring together experts from national labs, R&D organizations, and agencies who will discuss the science behind forward-looking weather data in the long-term transmission planning timeframe. Evan Wilcox from American Electric Power, Rao Kotamarthi from Argonne National Laboratory, Soo Jin Kim from NERC, Kale Ford from NATF, Mohamed M. Osman, P.E. from NERC, Eknath Vittal from EPRI, and many more industry experts. The workshop will be open to the public. Register before May 7th to secure your spot! https://cvent.me/2enlqr

🔥 Exciting News! 🔥 We’ve just updated our FAQ page on Heat Interface Units (HIUs) at HIUS.co.uk! 🎉 Our FAQ page is a treasure trove of information about HIUs. It answers questions like “What is optimised heating?” and "What are coincidence and diversity factors?". Did you know that a heat interface unit acts as a pressure break between an energy centre distribution network and the end user? Heat enters the home through insulated pipes that run from the central energy source into the heat interface unit. We also answer practical questions like “What type of isolation valves to use on a HIU?” and "Safety valve discharge information". Check out our FAQ page to learn more about the benefits of having a HIU on a heat network. We’re sure you’ll find it enlightening!
