Navigating the turbulent waters of defence, marine, and energy sectors with a hearty laugh and a bucket full of experiences! Freelance Technical and Managerial support to a variety of sectors!
I thought #canada was contemplating joining the AUKUS club. 12 subs is a good order and a pretty lengthy build programme. My thoughts on taking on such a programme……. With a long period since any procurement of this magnitude or complexity it’s imperative, when selecting a designer/yard, to ensure that not only the build technology and best practices are demonstrable but that the build can be independently verified during the construction process. Matts key points: Choose shipbuilders with extensive experience and a successful history in constructing submarines, particularly those capable of handling advanced technologies and complex construction processes. Select a shipbuilder with a strong reputation for reliability and high-quality workmanship. Evaluate past performance on similar projects, including adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Ensure the shipbuilder has modern, well-equipped facilities capable of meeting the specific requirements of submarine construction and has the capacity to handle the project’s size and complexity. Visit every yard on the shortlist. Evaluate the shipbuilder’s network of subcontractors to ensure all components meet high-quality standards and their ability to collaborate effectively with other contractors and stakeholders. Consider the cost-effectiveness of the shipbuilder’s bid while ensuring it aligns with quality expectations. Ensure the shipbuilder is financially stable to avoid potential disruptions during construction. Cheap isn’t always better… or cheaper! Engage reputable third-party inspectors to conduct regular and thorough inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring unbiased verification focused solely on maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Specify that the shipbuilder adheres to internationally recognized certification standards for quality & safety management and implement a continuous quality assurance program to monitor all construction phases. Maintain detailed documentation of all inspections, tests, and verification processes. Ensure transparent reporting of findings and issues, with a clear process for addressing any identified deficiencies; benchmark for future condition surveys. Oh and make sure there’s a robust inspection and maintenance programme way before the first boat is handed over. Materials degrade irrespective of delivery date! Identify potential issues that could affect construction quality and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks, ensuring continuity and quality of construction. By carefully selecting a reputable and capable shipbuilder and implementing rigorous independent product verification processes, Canada can ensure the construction of its new submarine fleet meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance. #submarines #shipbuilding #shipbuilder #engineering

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀? 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁! 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀? This is the question we have diligently answered for the shipyards across Europe with which we have worked and continue to collaborate. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁? Shipyards don’t pay us; they pay for solutions to their problems. And here, Minerva Navis is the number one solution for complex challenges in ship hull construction and naval piping systems. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? By attracting exceptional talents from the industry. It’s simple: to be the best, you need to have the best. We take pride in our elite professionals, who often achieve what is universally considered impossible. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀? Of course, benefits are important, and we excel in that area. However, if you are truly exceptional, you undoubtedly want to work with the best, with people who share your values of hard work and excellence. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱? To have a great experience and earn significantly for yourself and your loved ones. This is what we achieve for our people, and this is how we stand out in the market. 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 + 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵 (𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆/𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀) = 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 = 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀.
