Last week Wednesday the 14th Feb .. Special day for some, also known as 'Valentines Day' , I had the pleasure of being at the Crystal Palace stadium alongside the Palace For Life Foundation, who invited me down to speak on their 'all female panel'. Thankful to Palace for Life Foundation at Crystal Palace for the opportunity!⚡️ It was such an insightful day, sitting alongside all these other powerful females who come from different backgrounds but hearing everyone speak on their journeys and how they got where they are was truly amazing and inspiring. Whilst we were there to speak with the young people I also was inspired. I love the fact that these young females actually took the time out during their half term to want to learn more from females that are established in a career/field, and they sat down for a couple of hours listening to each of us speak, and then hit us with their questions. We split up into groups going around to each table and then speaking one on one with the young females, giving them total honesty which prepares them for life after education. I personally like to keep it very straight to the point, especially because I know when I was their age I didn't want to hear someone taking forever to get to a point I would tune out - so I feel like the realer you keep it the more they respond and relate with you. My motto which I told these young females is that they need to stand on business. When I say that I literally mean, do not let anything or anyone sway them from what you want in life. Your grades or what someone says to you does not and will not make you. For example, If you want to be an entrepreneur one day, stand on that.. if it doesn't work out at least you tried it. There is never a moment where it is too late to change your mind on what you want in life as long as you are standing on it and making changes and implementing things in your life that will get you to that point! Once again, I am honestly thankful and grateful for the opportunity and being able to potentially change a young person's life from my own experiences. #LifeOfHerCIC #StandOnBusiness #FemaleOrganisation #BeYourOwnBoss #Entrepeneur #InCharge #LifeLessons #FemalePanel #PalaceForLifeFoundation #BeTheChangeYouWantToSee #Brent

🌟🌐 Finding Purpose: The Pathway to Belonging 🤝✨ My recent work and research on belonging took me to an interesting finding that as we journey through our mid-career years —a pivotal phase marked by professional aspirations, family building, and soul-searching—two pillars emerge as guiding beacons: purpose and belonging. These elements intertwine in the intricate tapestry of human experience, shaping our sense of fulfillment and connection. In my recent workshop, participants shared that even though, during the pivotal stages of their 20s and 30s, purpose emerged as a driving force, it alone could not sustain them because they craved connection—and not just something that could be experienced through a water cooler conversation or a cup of coffee with a friend. The search was for a sense of belonging that transcends individual pursuits. My conversations on the topic have revealed that creating an experience of belonging need not always be a complex strategic initiative—people experience belonging by engaging in conversations about topics that matter to them. Whether discussing shared interests, passions, or values, these conversations foster a sense of community and connection. Similarly, purpose is something you created, not something you sought, and it would be something you must keep creating—like a constant practice rather than waiting for it to come your way. Again, it is not some magical big reveal but simply an act of discovering various avenues, such as career aspirations, family responsibilities, spiritual beliefs, and volunteer efforts, that provide a sense of direction and meaning, anchoring us amidst life's uncertainties. In essence, shared experiences play a pivotal role in fostering belonging. Whether it's embarking on adventures with friends, celebrating milestones with loved ones, or volunteering for a cause close to the heart, these shared endeavors create bonds that transcend individuality, fostering a sense of purpose and belonging. Together, we can create spaces where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute their unique gifts that can begin with reflecting on our journey—what gives you purpose, and where do you find belonging? Together, we can forge paths of purpose and belonging, illuminating the way for ourselves and those around us.🌟🌐 #purposedriven #belongingmatters #pathwaytobelonging #thinkaloud

Navigating the Unexpected: Finding Community in a Male-Dominated Industry 🚍 When I first got this job in the public transport sector, my interviewer told me it’s a male-dominated field. As someone who’s an introvert and who usually feels uncomfortable in male-dominated spaces, I wasn’t sure if this job was the right fit for me. I worried about how I’d adjust. But I took the leap and, surprisingly, it turned out to be an amazing experience! My colleagues come from different countries, cultures, and religions, and we all share the same office. Over time, we’ve gotten to know each other’s unique traditions and even started celebrating festivals together. I never thought it would be this way, but it feels like I’ve gained a new family at work. We’re there for each other, and it’s been wonderful. While this job isn’t what I originally dreamed of when I was pursuing my Master’s in Political Science and International Studies, I’ve found a sense of happiness and satisfaction that I didn’t expect. I still have goals I want to achieve, but I’m grateful for the friendships and experiences I’ve gained here. Sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone leads you to places and people you never imagined. ❤️ I’m still figuring out my long-term career goals, but right now, I’m thankful for the opportunities and the amazing people at Uno. Sometimes, the paths we least expect can lead to the most fulfilling experiences. Here’s to finding joy and connection in our careers and appreciating the diverse and supportive teams that help us grow. #WorkFamily #Diversity #Teamwork #CulturalExchange #IntrovertLife #NewExperiences #Grateful

Evoking our better nature of work requires connecting and reconnecting with curiosity, creativity, courage and commitment. Here’s how I’m fueling 2024’s BNoW “business” - a nature-infused vacation filled with purposeful connections. Several unexpected initiatives and projects are percolating as a result of all of this, of course… because that’s how things work :) Hope your 2024 is already surprising you in delightful ways. If not, get out there and enjoy something - shake up the old patterns.

2024 is beginning with a continuation on the “connection and reconnection” theme, and it’s been wonderful. I’ve been traveling since Christmas Eve, in the Seattle area, Palm Desert and San Diego, and have had the opportunity to have some lovely experiences on my own AND connect and reconnectin person with 12 people who matter to me. Former coworkers. Coaching colleagues who’ve become great friends. Fellow evolvers of work who love nature and art. Two women whose weddings I was in and who are still dear friends. The first person I ever hired (I was 18). A master coach I have learned from. My kindergarten best friend. The first “new friend” I made my freshman year in high school. My former roommate from my mid-20’s. We talked about life, love, work, leadership, the world, who we were back then, who we are now, what we dream of, what we’re standing for and not standing for anymore… And we immersed ourselves in the environments we were in too. Whale watching. Fireside chatting for hours. Oceanfront views. Desert hikes. A major dog show. Beachfront sculpture park in the rain. A pedicure meeting at a salon. Car charging at a park with a rose garden. Margs and apps in old town La Quinta. Catching up over sushi Coffee with a “regular” who knows everyone in the shop. Musical bingo at the local pub. Dog walks. And so much more. I’m heading back home today and appreciating all this trip has generated. So much alignment in what matters to us. So much seeing and hearing each other’s different experiences, perspectives, ways of approaching life. So much laughter, some tears, many hugs and a lot of dreaming ahead to what’s possible. Reconnecting takes effort. To reach out, show up, be willing to go places outside of your usual pattern, and notice “what’s here now?”. And if there was a good reason you connected in the first place, and there’s something there that matters, why not nurture the connection? What connections do you want to nurture and what keeps you from doing it? #betternatureofwork #connectionmatters #exploremore #courageousleadership #evolvingnatureofwork

Dear Leading Girlfriend, Life Has No Guarantees Unless You - KEEP WORKING! You are far from the finish line, it is not time to settle yet. You are far from expectations, it is not time to choose comfort yet. Things are far from what they need to become, now is not the time to lose the vision. Every day is a new page to find out what new improvements need to happen. Every day is a new opportunity to find out what new version of you need to emerge. While you are still here, remind yourself of this truth; "there is no room for complacency." If you are not making conscious growth-effort, the world is already sourcing your replacement. This is not to say it's all going to be work and work alone throughout but if your work level falls below your comfort level, it's only a matter of time before you are out of business. Reflecting on a Week of Positives and Insights As the week unfolds, I find myself immersed in a spectrum of emotions and experiences. Laughter echoes through our shared space as colleagues and students share moments of joy, yet intertwined are conversations that resonate deeply with the human spirit. "It amazes me sometimes the strength of character young people can show in such diversity and the weight they can carry on their shoulders when life has dealt them some cruel blows." This quote captures the essence of my reflections this week. The resilience and fortitude displayed by these young minds in the face of adversity is nothing short of inspiring. Research consistently underscores the transformative power of support and engagement. Every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves a helping hand and the opportunity to shape challenging experiences into a driving force, a focused ambition. It's not merely about offering support but ensuring that the right support and opportunities are provided. With the right resources, we can empower young individuals to navigate life's challenges and mold their hardships into stepping stones toward a brighter future. Being surrounded by such inspiring young people prompts me to reflect on my own strength and response to the world. Their stories remind me that within every challenge lies an opportunity for growth and resilience. Let's continue fostering environments where everyone, regardless of their background, can thrive and shape their unique narratives. Together, we can make a difference. #Inspiration #Resilience #SupportingYouth #Reflections #Opportunities
