I've had an incredible 8 weeks, working on projects I would have never dreamed to be a part of and meeting some of the coolest people. But, I have the say, the most exciting thing of all was that I got to vote…for myself!!! And I won (although unopposed but, hey, a win is a win!). The decision to run occurred through a series of conversations over the last decade, along with an increased involvement in local and national conversations about biotechnology, the environment, and education. But one that stands out was with a close friend, who said: ‘You should only run for office if there are things you want to change’. At the time that wasn’t the case, but over the last decade, I’ve learned that, while things are pretty good, we need to do more and move faster to prepare for the coming future. We need to modernized our systems, create opportunities for housing and food security, rapidly adapt our education systems to reflect the role of AI and other advances, deploy cleaner, greener technologies, and make significant advances in healthcare, especially in diagnostics and preventative medicines. But most importantly, we need to learn to work together. Because the problems we need to solve are too big to do them alone and it’s only through kindness, cooperation, and collaboration that we will be able to do it. So, as a first step, I ran for town meeting member as a way to learn more about the inner workings of my town. Over the next 3 years, I’m excited to learn more about how my town and precinct are planning for these futures and accelerating our preparedness. And I look forward to contributing my views to these important discussions. Who knows what this will lead to, but for now, I’m looking forward to being the change I wish to see in my small sliver of the world. Picture is from a recent visit to DC, from one of my favorite spots in DC.

An artistic representation of the advantages of this new personal handheld ECG event recorder.
Summer felt short lived this year, but we managed to get some warm vibes into this piece for BioSignals. This was one of the first things I shot on the Angenieux 30-80, loving the look of it.

Why do people walk a labyrinth? to unwind to let go of a worry or burden to observe your mind and emotions In a recent group gathering, we set up a mini labyrinth experience sprinkled with theme-based hearts to reflect on. All the hearts had words that start with "R". They represent the pillars of our work: relationships respect responsibility repair reintegration And are also associated with a labyrinth experience: remember - gratitude for your life release - take time to notice the breath, breathing in deeply with a long exhale a few times, quieting the mind/letting go of thinking, opening the heart receive - stand or sit in the center of the labyrinth, receive (pause as long as you wish, reflecting, reconnecting with yourself) return - Walk out of the labyrinth (walk out on the same path you followed in, integration of your experience is realized, noticing the sense of well-being, excitement, calm or peace) Curious to embark on a labyrinth experience? Early bird registration is now open for our next cohort, DM us to learn more. #labyrinth #restoringrelationships #community #restorativejusticeprograms

Probaly, this is my best post so far :)💛 What I have learned from opening my OWN clinic, 1) Heal yourself while healing others,🍃❤️ Our willingness to heal ourselves increases our capacity to heal others 2) Listening to patients wisely matters🌻 The stories we are told are truly precious to hold and are often the most important part of patient care. 3) Stay insatiably curious. 🌷 It seems every day at work, I am met with something I’ve never seen before. This inspires me greatly. I love that I can never know everything. This feeds my passion for ongoing learning. 4) OPPORTUNITIES don't just fall into your lap.😊 5) FEEL the feel and do it anyway.💪 6) Challenges are a necessity of growth.🙏 7) You have to find ways to differentiate yourself and your practice.👏 8) Take time off. 9) Learn to set boundaries. 10) If you’re thinking about starting a clinic, now is the time to do it.😍😍

Commercial & Residential Real Estate | Certified Franchise Executive | Certified Business Coach | Integrated Marketing | Karaoke Enthusiast | Fun, Compassionate Human
Why would a #franchisesalesmanager visit existing franchisees? Isn’t that the role of #Operations? IMO, #franchisedevelopment is NOT just a synonym for #franchisesales. Also IMO, if your company only uses the term “#sales” to refer to the team that recruits new #franchisees, you’re missing the bigger picture. And it sets the wrong tone within your organization. But what are we developing exactly? ✅ the franchise network ✅ the franchisee-franchisor relationship ✅ the culture regarding expansion ✅ cross-functional team collaboration and communication ✅ the brand It’s not rocket science. If your company is only seeking to sell as many territories as possible without giving serious thought to the sustainability of both your new and existing #franchisees, you’re headed for disaster. Maybe not today. But inevitably. Here’s what happens: ❌ Increasingly disenfranchised franchisees (see what I did there?) who do not feel connected to the franchisor ❌ Poor validation when prospective franchisees conduct their due diligence, resulting in low franchise sales ❌ Slow growth trajectories of the new and sometimes the existing franchises ❌ Increasing number of resales and non-renewals (by the franchisee) Here’s how to expand the correct way. ✅ Overlay your franchisees’ geo-coded sales data onto a map of existing and proposed territories to understand to what extent your current locations are servicing the market. This should be ongoing. ✅ Meet with franchisees, individually and in groups, to share data on a regular basis, review your analyses, and gather additional insights from their perspectives (i.e., the local competitive landscape). Ideally, this is primarily an Operations/Business Coach role, but it requires transparency and collaboration among all departments (i.e., Fran Dev, Marketing, Training) ✅ Use the meetings with franchisees to establish and maintain a mutually beneficial plan with clear targets, and take actions to address underserviced markets via a combination of training, marketing, and adding new locations as the situation requires. For goodness sake, go and see your people in the field. Let them know that every member of your head office team appreciates them, values them, and is there to support them. And if you’re open to it, THEY might even teach YOU a thing or two. #learnwithvern
The best part about travelling to trade shows across the US is having the chance to visit some of our great franchisees. This past week while in Chicago, we visited our Northern Illinois Chief Mad Scientist, Cosmic Kathy. We had the chance to meet her awesome team and visit this amazing location. A big thank you to Kathy and her staff! Keep up with all your great work with kids in your community! #stemprogramsforkids Mad Science Group Inc. Vern Gonsalves, Realtor®, Fran Dev Officer
