Brown University has invested in Rhode Island's inaugural commercial life sciences startup, Ocean State labs, benefiting both the institution's research initiatives and the expansion of the state's life sciences sector. People often ask me what conferences and events offer the best experience. There are many quality options, but there is not enough time to attend them all. Any opportunity to network and meet innovators dedicated to changing the world for good holds value. We had an active June, and met some of the globe's key players in life sciences and deep tech. Here are some of the Highlights: APEX Ventures’ Principal, Diana Röttger, PhD joined HLTH Europe in Amsterdam, where they discussed the need to optimize the entire drug development chain. Efforts with AI and large language models were aimed at improving success rates in early-stage discovery and the clinical trial space. Hinterland of Things focused on the vibrant startup scene in Bielefeld. An exciting highlight was seeing GEMESYS AI training and inference capabilities around power grid optimization and low-power hearing aids. Infineon Startup Day 2024 in Dresden was a successful meeting with a wide range of companies pitching. We look forward to a continued collaboration with Infineon to foster deep tech startups.
