Throughout June, ALKU celebrated Immigrant Heritage Month! In addition, our DREAM Employee Resource Group celebrated its one-year anniversary. 🎉 ALKU’s Employee Resource Group, DREAM, serves as a multi-cultural safe space for individuals who are immigrants or have first-generation immigrant parents or guardians. In this group, all ethnicities, races, and nationalities are encouraged to raise awareness of the immigrant experience by sharing and learning about upbringings, struggles, and citizenship processes while providing support and resources.

Asgard Controlled Environments celebrated World Cultural Diversity Day yesterday, looking at diversity and inclusion within the office. There are six main cultures in Asgard Controlled Environments that the team explored and gained knowledge about, these were United Kingdom, Pakistan, Myanmar, Lisbon, Bulgaria and Iran. Various types of foods and traditions that took place within these cultures were shared, learning about experiences and life changing events that some of our employees may have experienced whilst growing up. A small display was put together providing a great way for everyone to talk about their experiences whilst working away, growing up or being on holiday. Cultural diversity is about appreciating that society is made up of many different groups with different interests, skills, talents, and needs. It also means that you recognise that people in society can have differing religious beliefs and sexual orientations to you. Acceptance is so important especially in a business and Asgard Controlled Environments welcomes everyone from different backgrounds, gender and cultures to our team. The day was a huge success, celebrating cultural diversity. We truly appreciate all our employees and would like to thank all involved! #AsgardControlledEnvironments #WorldCulturalDiversityDay #Inclusion #Learning #CulturalDiversity #CelebrateDiversity

PAG-KUKUSA is a Filipino term that roughly translates to "initiative" or "voluntarism" in English. In a work environment, it refers to the act of taking the initiative to do something without being told or asked to do so by a superior. It's about being proactive, self-motivated, and having a sense of ownership and responsibility for one's tasks and the overall success of the team or organization. Employees who exhibit pagkukusa are often seen as valuable assets in the workplace because they contribute beyond their basic job responsibilities. They anticipate needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and take action to address them. This proactive attitude can lead to increased efficiency, productivity, and innovation within the organization. Employers may encourage pagkukusa by fostering a culture that values and rewards initiative, providing opportunities for employees to voice their ideas and suggestions, and offering support and resources for self-directed learning and development. Additionally, clear communication of goals and expectations can help employees understand where they can take initiative and contribute to the organization's objectives. Do you have what it take to do – PAG-KUKUSA?

⭐️Harmony Day is a day when Australians celebrate and honor cultural diversity while sharing common ground. Australians identify with around 300 different ancestries, and 45% of Australians were either born overseas or have a parent who was – but 93% of Australians say they feel a sense of belonging. Despite the diversity of origins, this diversity has fostered significant development in the country. Notably, the Vietnamese community has also contributed to Australia's diversity and influence, with Vietnam ranking fourth in the number of immigrants to Australia. Australia is currently opening up and expanding cooperation extensively with Vietnam across various sectors, from economy to culture and education. It is hoped that this will present significant opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to invest and thrive in the Australian market in the near future. ------------------------------------------------ YARRALAND REAL ESTATE ☎️ Tel: +61 406 360 998 💬 Whatsapp: +61 406 360 998 📧 Email: info@yarraland.com.au 📍 Head Office: Suite 1.03 48 Edgewater Boulevard, Maribyrnong VIC 3032, Melbourne 🗺️ Yarraland Global Offices: Melbourne – Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City

MY EXPERIENCE WITH AIESEC 💔 Dear Members of the AIESEC, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention the concerning and distressing situation I have been experiencing as a participant in the AIESEC program at, Turkey. Since my arrival in August 2023, I have been subjected to conditions that significantly deviate from the terms of my contract and the standards of respect and professionalism expected in a workplace. My manager at the achool has consistently exceeded the agreed-upon workload by assigning me a staggering 40 lessons per week, which is far beyond what was initially agreed upon. This excessive workload, coupled with the use of derogatory language and a general lack of respect, has created a hostile and unsustainable work environment. Furthermore, I am deeply disappointed by the lack of support and intervention from AIESEC, particularly in Gaziantep, Turkey, where I had hoped to find assistance in resolving these issues. Instead, I have been made to feel like a second-class citizen, with local workers treating me and other program participants as inferior beings. This treatment has not only affected my professional life but has also taken a toll on my mental health. I must express the profound sadness and despair I feel as a result of this experience. I entered this program with high hopes and a desire to make a positive impact, but instead, I find myself in a situation where my well-being is at risk. I fear that if this situation persists, it may lead to irreversible consequences, including thoughts of self-harm. No participant should be subjected to such treatment, and it is imperative that steps are taken to ensure the well-being and safety of all program participants. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of these issues. #AIESEC #InternationalControlBoard #WorkplaceIssues #MentalHealth #EmployeeRights #Professionalism #WorkLifeBalance #WorkplaceCulture #HumanRights #GlobalWorkforce #InternationalExperience #AIESECTurkey #EnglishTimeAdıyaman #Gaziantep #EmployeeWellbeing #FairTreatment #RespectAtWork #EndWorkplaceAbuse #SafeWorkEnvironment #StandUpForYourself #SupportEachOther

On the 24th of September, South Africa will be celebrating #HeritageDay. I'm thinking about what South Africa's corporate heritage is outside of the obvious historical and very Google-able stuff. I am sitting with two provocations so far: 1. Why is corporate social responsibility (CSR) conceived in terms of what an organisation does for its external environment and; 2. Why is diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) conceived mostly in terms of what happens in the internal environment. Between the HR and Comms departments of each organisation, someone initiated a meeting to brainstorm on what the organisation would do for Heritage Day. Someone said 'Let's replace Casual Fridays' and having a 'Heritage' theme. The Employee Relations Strategy budget was approved in the knick of time. The director has a cousin who owns a catering company and she is the only person who can cater for a staff complement of 100 at such short notice. Savannah has booked the boardroom space and Hunter says glasses must be filled to the brim on the rooftop later. Yesterday, Thandeka and Kgosi had to check if the African printed stuff they last wore at traditional ceremonies last December still fit because it was only on Wednesday afternoon that the internal Comms team indicated that 'African Pride' is the theme. No DJ is coming but there is a hot mix. Yvonne Chaka Chaka's Umqombothi is about to bounce off the walls, pre-heating 'Nkalakatha' and Chakalaka's annual meeting on the braai plate on Tuesday. What is not included yet again on this year's Heritage Bonus: - Inclusive Language Policy - Culturally-sensitive bereavement or 'family responsibility' Leave - Ubuntu-infused usage policy of Slack and Microsoft Teams - Other stuff** **I got distracted and forgot the other things I wanted to list the same way South Africa has forgotten that this day was actually about uShaka kaSenzangakhona. #DiversityAndInclusion #DEI #CorporateCulture #HumanResources #AfricanCulture #Diversity #Equity

Diversity. It goes beyond just your country or your community, and is a very present factor within the business environment. The world is a much smaller place than it used to be. As 4IR continues to forge forward, countries and businesses become more and more heterogeneous. You will encounter people from different cultures, religions and ethnic groups, who will have different value systems and different motivations. Working together is key. Stay tuned next week as we dig deeper into the OIM International’s Winning Strength-from-Diversity Corporate Culture approach to assist you in managing diversity in your organisation. www.oiminternational.com #OIMInternational #BusinessImprovementSpecialists #Diversity #ChangeManagement #BusinessOperations
