Hematology/Oncology physician @ Karmanos | Podcast Host | Talks about AI in Healthcare, Startups, MedTech and Oncology. Ideas are my own
Today, I had an enlightening conversation with one of the human medical scribes in the clinic. He shared his journey towards becoming a doctor. Initially, he was excited about pursuing a medical career and he started working as a scribe to explore a career as a doctor. However, his experience as a scribe gave him a different perspective. He was surprised by the vast amount of administrative work doctors handle. Instead of patient care, much time is spent on paperwork and admin tasks. This realization made him rethink his career path. Now, he no longer wants to become a doctor. Welcome to the real world! I think we have fewer docotrs because people are less likely to choose this career path #RIPMedicine #MedicalScribe #CareerJourney #Healthcare #AdministrativeWork #PhysicianLife #CareerDecisions
