Way back in #ancient #times, there was a general who led his men a super far distance to the outskirts of a neighboring kingdom. Right when they were across from their enemy’s kingdom, the general had his army build a #bridge to the other side. 🌉 Once his entire army crossed the bridge, he turned around and set the bridge on #fire. 🔥   His men looked #panicked, because now, obviously, they had no way to escape if they got backed up; so he said to them: “This Bridge is burned. There is no way back now except to #win this #war.”   For the general, #failure wasn’t an #option – and that turned out great for him, because his army eventually #won the war.   But think about your own life: What metaphorical #bridges do you need to burn so that doubt can no longer stop you from achieving your #dreams? A bunker in Siachin Glacier caught fire. Captain Anshuman Singh entered the bunker and took out 4 soldiers but got stuck himself. He was awarded Kirti Chakra today. Anshuman Singh was just 26 years old, resident of Deoria district of Purvanchal. His mother and wife received the award on his behalf. We have been seeing his wife on Internet and it is breaking our heart... However, we all have to agree that Captain Anshuman Singh is a true hero. The story of Captain Anshuman Singh teaches us several profound lessons: 1. Why is it that so few people follow their own star? Why is the star such a heavy burden? Because following your own star means isolation, not knowing where to go, having to find out a completely new way for yourself instead of just going on the trodden path everybody else runs along. That's why there's always been a tendency in humans to project the uniqueness and the greatness of their own inner self onto outer personalities and become the servants, the devoted servants, admirers, and imitators of outer personalities. It is much easier to admire a great personality and become a pupil or follower of a guru or a religious prophet, or an admirer of a big, official personality-a president of the United States-or live your life for some military general whom you admire. Heart bleeds when I see such posts, and some of them are worse. We sleep peacefully and have a nice time on weekends, but these real heroes don’t have weekends, holidays are cancelled, meagre salary levels, the only thing that every defence personnel irrespective of rank, know only one thing - Bharat Maata! And I see everyday, people from the corporate/business world post their various stuff like promotions, Starting of new job and basically blowing one’s own trumpet trampling over millions of juniors trying to reach the top chair especially in the blue chip firms - So prevalent in Corporate India at least. And they think they have hit bulls eye! You are there in corporate world getting through academic okayish record because you don’t have the guts to face a gun pointed at you or tackling a situation like 26/11, (apart from a few who maybe wanted to go to defence services or IAS/IPS, but due to family pressure could not pursue - me being one). So to all those fancy tags of corporate India, you are there and mostly not adding to Indian Economy rather it’s a brain drain especially from the top tech and B Schools like IITs, IIMs and become a traitor like Pichai. Anyway, so to the real heroes - each and every Defence Personell/ Government Job holders like the IAS - Salute 🫡
