When it comes to creating a culture of work life balance in construction, success seems to hinge largely upon one thing... What they decide at the top. If the Directors of the business decide that they want to work towards s 5-day week on site, then everyone in the business feels empowered and responsible to make that happen as best they can. Teams are empowered to work together to create ideal solutions. Saturday staff feel empowered to push back or speak concerns. Everyone feels heard - and everyone feels like this is a business who cares. These are the people who will stick with the business for the long haul. And - that makes it good business.

Couldn’t agree more Michael Smith. For some, unfortunately, this is lost and they get paralyzed especially on the communication piece. Paralysis by analysis aka over thinking it. Leadership is an intrinsic quality and discipline that needs to be practiced. Not quite a use it or lose it thing but…you and others get the idea. #leadership #management #leadershipexcellence #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipmindset #leadershiplessons #people #peoplefirst #peoplematter
As a manager, it’s important to remember that your employees are human before anything else. Awareness, empathy, and open communication are little gestures that go a long way. The majority of the workforce want the simple things - a good work life balance, good compensation, and someone who values them as an employee AND a person.

We believe in work life integration vs. work life balance. Just ask Brooke Skinner Ricketts while she juggles family time on spring break with work this week. When you're focused on work life integration, you're more realistic about what needs to be accomplished in the day -- in the week. Where area the parents on spring break this week?? Have you unplugged or are you integrating? Share with us! What do you do for work life integration?
Work Life Integration is better than Work Life Balance

WORK LIFE BALANCE At ARCO, we believe that work-life balance is not about retaining employees. It is an integral part of life. Employees spend a minimum of 8 hours at work a day, which equals to 1/3 of their day at work. Work life balance is therefore a concrete part of building an organisations and we have to work our strategy through it and not the other way round. At ARCO, we do not practice time-based work (i.e. no thumb in/out), a 4-day work week, mobile working for everyone and flexi day. How is this possible? ACT!!!! 1. Accountability 2. Communication 3. Technology
