I suppose this is my "thing" right now Owner wants to compete with the competition ...doesn't have a budget ...wants benefits So we figure it out... Meaningful employee engagement is actually a scary thing when you're a producer who needs to sell to feed your family It means you can't go into any situation with preconceived notions You have to do the work up front And know your shit Beforehand I knew the following: ✔️ The staff was 99.9% women ✔️ Had more than their share of maternity situations recently ✔️ 30% percent of the employees we're high earners (+90K) ✔️ Had to get health insurance on their own ✔️ People who make north of $60K don't get subsides from the government ✔️ Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL "waives" the minimum contribution and participation... For 45 days For a 1/1 Effective Date #LevelFunded plans are my passion for small business but if the group is small and you uncover some health issues, gotta pivot. More than enough employees here were unaware that there was an alternative to what they were paying for with "after tax" dollars. And that there were other insurance programs that would help them plan for an addition to their family You can't explain that in a poll or in an email no one will read (FYI, I was the rep who used to use "engagement" as a way to sling things people didn't need, takes one to know one) #EmployeeBenefits #HealthInsurance #EmployeeEngagement #IllinoisInsurance #ChicagoBroker #SHRM #HR #VB #DoBetter
