Humble, Hungry, Humane! If any of you have ever listened to Patrick Lencioni on his The Table Group podcast or read his book The Ideal Team Player. He provides a simple almost-alliteration to remember what to look for in a good hire/team member: HUMBLE, HUNGRY, SMART. I couldn't agree more with this philosophy, but it kills me that the last word doesn't start with an "H", so I went searching for something that could still apply to the meaning Pat had for "Smart", but begin with the correct letter...hahaha! After a lengthy search, as you saw in the opening hook to this post, the word I chose was Humane. I actually think this works well because the definition of humane is having or showing compassion and benevolence. Pat's use of the word "Smart" isn't so much intellectual as it is social. Smart with people-skills (which according to Crucial Learning, are the most important skills you'll ever learn). I think that Humane works pretty well! I have more I'm planning on saying about each of these categories, so stay tuned! What do you think Patrick Lencioni? Did I do it justice? It's likely that Pat never sees this post, but I know that Mel Torrie has learned the importance of this philosophy in looking for the right team members. Let us know what you think! Onward!
