In the last 48 hours, I have written 2 articles each on very different topics and spent time going through the edits of my next children's book. Diversity is something I thrive on and it challenges my writing ability. While I may have accomplished only three things in just two days I feel good and I have learned something through research. As I sat and wrote late into the evening and bright and early this morning I had a thought... Are we learning less because we are relying on AI to do so much for us? AI may be fast and seemingly good for business, but what are we really missing out on when a machine does our work? Trying to go against the grain and read something new. Here we have the wealth of nations by Adam Smith. Book is a little intimidating, over 1200 pages in length. I know I know I probably could pick up the principles at the tap of a button from AI. Made by humans. I’ve just spent 18 months researching, developing and ghost writing a book. It’s out on May 16th. But, yesterday, the process got me thinking. I read posts all of the time from people telling me that I could have a book written for me in 30 mins by AI. Would I want that? Would the person for whom I’ve written the book want that? Would we have learned as much by doing that? Would it have been as much fun? Would we feel as much pride if we’d asked AI to ‘knock it out’ for us? Would I be happy to tell people about it, knowing it had been written by something without a beating heart? And, would it be any good? I’m not sure about the last question. As for the other questions…. The answer is a colossal NO. It’s a far better book having been made by humans. Made by humans. Not a bad name for a company wanting to take the road less travelled right now. #madebyhumans #storiesthatmatter #humanfirst
