💥SQM, a Chilean mining company, has completed the acquisition of Adionics, a French direct lithium extraction (DLE) company, for $20.3 million. Adionics is known for its selective extraction of lithium sales from continental, geothermal brines, or produced water. The company began its activities by desalinating seawater and shifted towards lithium in 2017. SQM plans to work with Adionics on DLE technologies. 📌Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) is a recent trend in lithium extraction that uses various methods to accelerate the lithium extraction process, typically from lithium brines. Continental brines make the highest contribution to lithium production by supplying 59% of overall lithium production. SQM is one of the world's largest lithium producers, and it has expanded its lithium business to Australia and Argentina. 💥Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) is a process that involves using a highly selective absorbent to extract lithium from brine water. ➡️This method accelerates the lithium extraction process, typically from lithium brines. DLE technologies have been proven and established in producing projects in China and South America. The process aims to reduce environmental impact by minimizing harm to the environment, avoiding aquifer depletion, reducing CO2 emissions, and lowering water consumption, often powered by renewable energy. 📌DLE presents improved process efficiencies, reducing carbon, time, and costs compared to traditional lithium refining methods. It also offers the potential to significantly increase the supply of lithium from brine projects, nearly doubling lithium production on higher recoveries and improving project returns. ECMA paves way for ethio telecom’s share sales The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has revealed plans to proceed with the sale of ten percent shares of Ethio Telecom before the finalization of public offerings and trading of securities directive, marking a significant milestone in the country’s economic landscape. According to ECMA, the draft directive for public offerings was made available for public feedback for the second time on Friday. As the regulatory body overseeing the primary share market and the forthcoming secondary market, ECMA aims to facilitate the smooth transition of Ethio Telecom’s shares to the general public.
