I recently started following Bill Kenney 👋 (highly recommended for any marketer) and he does an incredible job of connecting "brand" to growth and overall company success (revenues, investment, valuation, exit... the stuff that matters), especially in the murky waters of technology and B2B. Today's funding news from Spring Health is a great example of a company that has invested heavily in brand from day one. While brand is not the reason they are now valued north of $3 billion, the consistent messaging, positioning, and look and feel across every touch point has been evident in the many years I have been following them as an outsider. Brand is of course much more than logo, colours and fonts, and Spring has connected its visual presence to a noble mission and market position - improving mental health at scale. As a brand marketer, there is often (always?) a fair bit of convincing needed to get early-stage companies to invest in brand before they think they need it. One way to get buy-in is to share examples of successful companies (in my world of healthcare, that includes the likes of Spring Health and Abridge) that have put brand as a top priority since day one.
Today, we are excited to announce a $100M Series E funding round at a $3.3B valuation to accelerate our continued growth and expand global access to mental healthcare. The round was led by Generation Investment Management with participation from existing investors, including Kinnevik, William K Warren Foundation, RRE and Northzone.
