Last week, I had the pleasure to represent the EDERA Lab team at the Hello Tomorrow #deeptech Summit in Paris. 🇫🇷 It was an electrifying 48 hours brimming with groundbreaking ideas and insightful conversations with industry players - from startup founders to incubators, accelerators, investors and corporate powerhouses. 🌱A little over one year ago, we founded EDERA Lab on a mission to support the visibility of innovators disrupting their industries from within to drive positive change. 🎯 Our mission is to support the climate tech, agri-food tech, and deep tech start-ups, translating groundbreaking technologies into commercially viable products, driving real-world impact. 📣 Steven Jacobs from Lakestar perfectly captured the essence of deep tech: "Deep tech is a period in time: it is the moment when scientific discovery becomes a product." 💡 EDERA Lab's mission is simple: we help early-stage founders be visible where it matters. Our targeted communication expertise helps them build thought leadership with investors and corporate players, supporting their fundraising, partnerships and business development. 🚀 A huge thanks to the founders, incubators, and accelerators who took time out of their busy event schedules to share their visions and challenges. 🚀 Just wrapped up an incredible week at #TechCrunchDisrupt2024 wearing two hats - as a founder and a volunteer! The energy was simply electric. One standout moment that truly captured the essence of deep tech innovation was witnessing geCKo Materials pitch at the Battlefield Stage. Their breakthrough in micro-scale adhesion technology - essentially creating a capability that can allow humans to scale walls like geckos or Spiderman - showcases the remarkable journey from lab to market. What struck me most? This technology's evolution from academic research papers I remember reading back in 2014 to today's commercial reality. Ten years of persistent R&D, countless iterations, and unwavering dedication to transform a biomimetic concept into practical applications. This timeline perfectly illustrates a critical truth in deep tech: groundbreaking innovation requires patience, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the vision. While the tech world often celebrates rapid iterations and quick wins, some of the most transformative technologies demand years of development before reaching commercial viability. A special shoutout to my amazing fellow volunteers who made this event run seamlessly, such as Anusha Jamkhandi, Anoop Baliga, Divya Jindal, and many more. Thrilled to have attended VivaTech 2024 in Paris, Europe's biggest startup and tech event! This incredible experience was filled with inspiring moments and invaluable insights. I had the unique opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with none other than Elon Musk, where we discussed the future of technology and innovation. He also emphasized the importance of regulating AI to ensure it serves humanity responsibly and ethically. Listening to Bernard Arnault's perspective on how entrepreneurs should emulate world-class athletes was truly eye-opening. His emphasis on discipline, resilience, and continuous improvement provides valuable lessons for all business professionals. Eric Schmidt's prediction regarding call-to-action being the “next big thing” was interesting while his thoughts regarding AI regulation are definitely food for thought. Engaging with so many incredible startups and walking almost 60,000 steps in those three days alone was both exhausting and exhilarating! Europe's thriving startup ecosystem, particularly the impressive Paris tech scene, showcased immense potential and innovation.
