Innovator in AI & Digital Fundraising | Strategic Leader in Technology & Nonprofits | Client Success Advocate
The nonprofit sector has always held a special place in my heart. GivingTuesday 2024 AI Readiness Survey Report, reveals both exciting progress and significant challenges in AI adoption among nonprofits. Key insights: - 68% of nonprofits have tried AI, with 56% classified as "AI Consumers" actively using and expanding its use - Generative AI tools like ChatGPT lead in adoption, mainly for content creation and communication - The biggest unmet need? AI-powered data organization tools, followed by predictive models and then strategy implementation **cough** strategic custom GPT's **cough** However, a critical knowledge gap exists, especially in smaller organizations. This highlights the urgent need for comprehensive AI training across all levels of nonprofit staff - not just technical teams. Looking ahead, the sector must address: 1. Comprehensive AI training programs 2. Development of ethical AI use policies 3. Exploration of advanced AI applications beyond basic content generation 4. Collaboration on sector-wide AI standards The future could see AI enhancing everything from donor engagement to program optimization. But this bright future depends on bridging the current knowledge gap and addressing ethical concerns. As the report states, "The nonprofit sector appears to be leaning into AI as a whole, despite reservations." Here's hoping that we see continued adoption to help transform the industry in an ethical manner. #AI #GenerativeAI #NonprofitTech #SocialImpact

😍 So much to love about GivingTuesday's new report on #AI readiness in the #nonprofit sector (https://lnkd.in/gcNru3QR): ✅ Unique insights about the barriers and enablers to using #GenerativeAI ✅ Findings about #data #use in the nonprofit sector (and not only in the Global Minority!) ✅ Practical resources to help nonprofits safely build #AI #literacy (check out Tim's AI For Anybody course - 15% code in the report!) 💘 But perhaps my favorite part of the report is how the footnotes explain how AI was used in its research, like the tools and prompts they used. A great example. ⬆ Room for improvements? Not many, but next year let's make the charts more beautiful and digestible! (I've got a training for that too https://lnkd.in/gkY9DGwc) 🙏 Thanks Kelsey & Marc for investing your energy in this important area, and for featuring my trainings as a way to build #AI Readiness 🙂

Philanthropists have a vital role to play in developing safer AI. The race is on to build – and profit from – more powerful AI systems. Big tech companies are incentivized to act irresponsibly. And governments lack the resources and expertise to effectively manage AI risks. This leaves a gap in our defenses that philanthropy can fill. We share a strategy for impact-focused philanthropists in our new research on advanced AI: https://lnkd.in/gsrTqRNG
