Mechanics often struggle with inadequate lighting in the workshop, leading to frustration and inefficiency. Here's how to address these challenges: Limited Visibility: Provide precise, hands-free lighting exactly where it's needed, improving visibility for accurate work.💡 Safety Concerns: By ensuring consistent lighting, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries in the workshop. 🚧 Limited Mobility: Hands-free operation improves mobility in tight spaces, allowing mechanics to work more freely. 🏃♂️ Eye Strain: Bright, clear lighting reduces eye strain and fatigue, enabling to work comfortably for longer. 👀 Disorganization: Create a well-lit and organized workspace, enhancing efficiency and job satisfaction. 🛠️ #LightingRevolution #FutureOfLighting #MotionTech #ShineBrightLikeLuminoLights

We only get one shot at a first impression and for most buildings, that starts with how you lobby looks OR the ease of parking in a garage. We can all agree that there is NOTHING worse than coming into the office after a long commute and having a poor experience in a parking garage. To combat that, ABM Industries launched #ABMVantage, a data-enabled, driver-first smart parking platform that leverages data from parking systems, online booking, license plate recognition, and other technologies to enhance the parking experience for customers and clients. Haha! Daft picture I know. Greetings from inside the #lyophil chamber of an aseptic #isolator. Seriously though. I’ve been out spending time, actually on the builds of our current projects. Yes, getting my hands dirty. The GM has been relentless and frustratingly only now has the opportunity arisen to get stuck in, for I really love picking up the tools. It’s not always possible with busy schedules but the truth is, it is great to literally get inside your designs and see things from a whole different perspective. Where are the difficulties in the assembly? How durable is that mechanism? Wow! That’s heavy! How can they possibly fit that! Easy questions for sure, and so often those responsible for the design can get defensive, but I’ve found that close proximity like this, is like a font for fresh inspiration. Such intimacy is usually the reserve of the engineers who are left to piece my designs together and rarely does the designer get this opportunity. Well, to my critics, I hear you. My goal is to fully embrace this. Let’s forge a new dialogue and let partnership be at the center. Truly, I have the best team I could hope for. From now on, I’m making this a regular practice. To walk through the geography of our designs. To own the topography that others will need to later navigate. On so many levels there are a million subconscious devils who will seek to scupper my resolve, yet, it is not enough to just give in. There is nothing that tastes so sweet as the pint we lift up, with the sense of job well done at the end of a project. Cheers! As I reflect on the year, the sheer volume of work has been near overwhelming at times. Along with the midnight oil, the lessons learned came thick and fast and now, as the holidays approach, I actually feel like I can enter 2024 with a full quiver. Even now, fresh energy crouches and on this #thanksgiving day, I’m thankful. Every one of my immediate team, and my esteemed colleagues around me, have just been outstanding this year.

I recently had the honor to present at this remarkable event. My presentation, titled "Measurement Protocol Proposal for Building Retrofitting using Acoustic Camera and Blower Door Techniques," focused on improving building retrofitting. By addressing the critical issues of energy consumption, cost, and human comfort, I highlighted the importance of detecting façade cracks that allow both air and sound infiltration. Traditional methods like the Blower Door (BD) can quantify these infiltrations but often fail to pinpoint exact leak locations. My research aims to leverage modern acoustic cameras to locate and quantify air leaks more accurately, offering a precise and effective diagnostic protocol for building retrofitting. I'm thrilled to be part of such a forward-thinking community and to contribute to innovative building solutions that enhance energy efficiency and comfort. Let's continue to shape the future through global learning and collaboration! #IMFAHE2024 #InnovationCamp #BuildingRetrofitting #AcousticCamera #BlowerDoor #SustainableBuilding #GlobalLearning #Collaboration

ITE Philadelphia Conference 2024 Wow, what an awesome four days at the #itephilly2024 conference talking about safe system and speed management. Great to see so much work going on in this area in the USA. As always was great to catchup with friends I have made over my last 16 years connecting with transport professionals in the USA. Also making a number of new contacts. There are some impressive examples of the application of safe system treatments happening in cities around the country. I was particularly impressed by some of the arterial and high injury route improvements in the city of #Philadelphia and the city of #Fremont in Californian. Great to see the use of more vertical treatments in street design. There was a lot of talk about the high risk of crashes, especially for vulnerable road users, on stroads; these are routes that have both a strong movement function and strong placemaking function. The term stroads is applied to routes that have both a (high) street (placemaking) and road (movement) function. In New Zealand and Australia we call these routes mixed-use arterials. but I kind of like the term stroad. Unfortunately in many states the implementation of safer speed limits is restrained by the States speed limit rules, which are often tied to the 85%ile operating speed of a route. One of the novel solutions I saw to get around this is to first engineer the road down to a lower design speed, then resurvey the 85%ile speed, and set the speed limit at the lower 85%ile speed. There was so many other great learnings I will share in an upcoming interview (during August). Abley #visionzero #safesystem #speedmanagement

FIVE CRITICAL ELEMENTS for Low Energy and Comfort. Not Necessarily in the right order for every building! THREE KEY ELEMENTS TOGETHER - 2, 3 & 4 1. Damp - Get and keep the building dry. Ensure any parts that can get wet can easily dry out soon afterwards 2. Air Flow - slow/stop unwanted air flow into and out of the building (in/exfiltration) 3. Barriers - to prevent flow of Air/Vapour (at building Envelope) & Energy (Insulation) 4. Exchange - Air Exchange (stale wet air for fresh air) AND use an air to air heat pump to Exchange Energy. (Catch Energy leaving while increasing the temperature to fresh air) 5. Control - accurate control of equipment. (Electronics digital accurate controls) Using extract fans alone WILL increase heating costs in ANY home!
As we move towards higher levels of insulation and better #airtightness in buildings, we must also prioritise the maintenance of indoor #airquality. Dave Judd, from the Ecological Building Systems' technical team, talks us through the basics of the inVENTer GmbH decentralised #ventilation system. #indoorairquality #decentralisedventilation #heatrecovery #energyefficiency #buildtightventilateright #inventer https://lnkd.in/eKXKJywN

Harold, we need energy-efficient and environmentally friendly buildings! When working I prefer to go to the EPLAN office instead of working from home. Besides that I meet my colleagues, also the building is equipped with the right heating, ventilation and air conditioning. And also the sunscreens are lowered automatically. 🌞 The building technology industry faces increasing demands for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building designs and materials. Addressing the needs of rapidly growing urban populations. 🏢 Many companies however still rely on older technology, leading to reduced employee productivity and lowered morale. Workers demand the right tools to do the job in an environment where staff retention is already an issue. If you ask me the building technology sector can benefit a lot from best practices from the industrial automation industry where standardisation, digitalisation and automation are state-of-the-art.💡 How? That's what EPLAN and Rittal will show on the Light & Building fair in Frankfurt from 3 until 8 March. 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵.
