Today marks the closing chapter in a bunch of innovative people coming together in an attempt to change the future of transportation with Hyperloop One. 🚟 I was fortunate to work with the team for over a year to develop the user experience of the command and control system and ideate with some of the smartest people on the planet on what a potential future could look like if we could connect cities and local regions with an innovative rapid transportation system. What I saw over my experience of working with the company was a detrimental disconnect between highly skilled and specialized contributors making headway in developing revolutionary sub systems and a leadership team that was continually trying to piece together unfinished lego pieces to chase down bigger funding and an even larger vaporware payoff on the backs of local governments and nation states for an unproven concept. I got to witness and participate in absolutely transformative technology development in industries that have been lacking for decades. Their magnetic levitation technology resulted in paradigm shifts that could be applied to industries outside of transportation. Building a rail line that utilized acceleration and deceleration ramps to keep the velocity of the major throughput line high could have revolutionized how we approach high speed rail development in the United States. The dynamic pod routing system in development could have ushered in a new way that we think about deploying electric vehicles within fixed network travel corridors. The part I worked on for developing systems of multi-modal transportation with mapping service providers could have ushered in a new wave of how people use a variety of services to reach their final destination. The company that promised to revolutionize travel and create a transportation system to benefit the environment and the world ultimately failed due to it's rigid adherence to an overall concept that was nothing more than a back of napkin sketch and a constant whack a mole to chase down a high payout at the end rather than working collaboratively with local municipalities, nation states, and industry partners to really make long term sustainable change. The lesson I learned here and apply to my practices after this experience is a simple one. Remain flexible in your overall vision, you can't make change in a team, organization, or global perception by just continually promising you'll reach the finish line. Stay close to those creating innovative change at the ground level, always leave a door open to pivoting in a new direction, and stay humble and make incremental change. Oh and I got the wonderful satisfaction of watching THE Richard Branson running into an absolute playground of technological innovation only to find that he was just as enamored by my dog, Georgia, as I always was. My how human we all are at the end of the day. 🐕 #hyperloop #hyperloopone

Short term goals can produce focused results! Over the last few months I have been working with a great business coach Andy Graves, his encouragement and approach to looking at focused short term goal setting has really helped me in managing the transition from employee to business owner. Below are 3 ways that Andy has assisted me in my new business journey. Maintaining Direction and Focus: By setting business goals every quarter, gives me clear direction. It keeps me aligned and working towards my objectives, preventing me aimlessly drifting and ensuring that my efforts are focused. Measuring Progress and Accountability: Quarterly goals provide a measurable benchmark against which I can evaluate my progress. Regularly assessing my achievements ensures accountability, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and helps me identify areas that require adjustments. Building Momentum and Motivation Breaking long-term vision into manageable chunks creates a sense of accomplishment with every milestone achieved. Meeting quarterly goals builds momentum, boosts my morale, and sustains motivation as progress becomes tangible and visible. Together with my twin brother Graeme Hogg who runs his own continuous improvement consultancy in the UK, I am lucky to have the “Dream Team” backing me all the way! Please reach out out to Andy Graves or Graeme Hogg if you or your business needs to focus on that light at the end of the tunnel 💡 #evbuzz #evtech #greencars #electricdrive #sustainability #evcharging #evbatteries #electricvehicleinfrastructure #greenmobility #electricvehicles #chargepointoperator

🚦🌍 Navigating the Digital Thoroughfare: Beating the #Bullwhip with Connectivity 🌍🚦 In #logistics, we're all too familiar with the 'bullwhip effect' 🐍, where even slight demand fluctuations cause significant tremors 📈 up the supply chain. Interestingly, this isn't just a supply chain quirk — it mirrors our roadways' congestion and sub-optimization. Imagine transforming this with the digital prowess 💻 we're harnessing in supply chain management. At #AIVIA, we're not just imagining but innovating 💡. By digitally connecting 🔗 both ends of the thoroughfare, employing dynamic forecasting algorithms, and integrating risk transversally, we're setting the stage to anticipate and mitigate this disruptive "traffic" pattern. Our goal? Real-time 🕐, responsive road management, pre-empting congestion before it peaks ⛰️, and paving the way for #orchestrated mobility and future #platooning. It's about creating 'smart' roads 🛣️ that communicate like a well-oiled supply chain, reducing the roadway 'bullwhip' one message at a time. Join us on this journey 🚀. Because the road to efficiency isn't just about #moving; it's about #connecting 🤝. 🛣️ #SmartMobility #AIVIA #Innovation #ConnectedRoadways 🚀
