On the Olympics Opening Ceremony. The event sought to incorporate urban spaces into its design, aiming for more city-centric celebrations. However, the grand scale of the setup might have exceeded the intimate interaction typically preferred in ceremonies and urban festivities, suggesting a need to reevaluate the configuration and vision to better align with people centered urbanist principles. Despite these challenges, the event showcased several highlights that effectively utilized the city's iconic settings. The fountain ballet along the Seine, set against a golden backdrop, was visually striking but did not fully capture the cityscape's grandeur. Gojira’s performance at the Castle showcased monumental architecture. The staging of a single horse flying over the river fell short of the setting’s potential—envisioning a larger group of riders might have better expressed a sense of French unity. Additionally, the remarkable lighting at the Eiffel Tower enhanced the spectacle, although its visibility was limited to a few. The event culminated with Celine Dion’s performance, which, while breathtaking, highlighted an ongoing issue: the lack of substantial at city visual elements that resonate with the city’s vast scale. This observation raises the question of whether the artistic vision of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Paris installation could have inspired a proposal to wrap or at least mimic wrapping the urban scene. Such an approach could create a compelling narrative along the river's remarkable cityscape. Welcome to Saturday Night Live Art Shows! This is week 3 of sharing my “Shining Ones” collection inspired in a very unusual way. It was based by a dream where I was living in an ancient time, and when I woke up, the name Sumeria kept running through my mind. I looked it up, and found out the Sumerians were an advanced ancient civilization considered one of the earliest known civilizations in human history renowned for their advancements in writing, mathematics, astronomy, architecture, and governance. They, were credited with developing the first evidence of writing. And the pictures online looked like what I saw in my dream. An indication of a past life? Who knows? As I researched it, I ran across information on The "Shining Ones", and found the pictures looked similar to another piece of art I created a year ago I called the Shiny Ones! In Sumerian culture, The Shining Ones were divine beings associated with wisdom, power, and enlightenment, often linked to the sun and stars that were intermediaries between humanity and the gods, offering spiritual guidance. So this art is inspired by something beyond me and I share them with you so the energy of the art may raise the vibration of your space and light the way for your own wisdom, power and enlightenment. Use it to inspire you to shine your light and light the way for others. This week, see how you can use designs from this collection in another way. Raise the vibe in your space today. I recently visited the stunning exhibition "Circle of Light" at Gropius Bau and I couldn't help but be captivated by the mesmerising round tubes and round holes by Nancy Holt. They have a captivating way of playing with the light in different moments of the day and also changes the perspective! 🌒🌓🌔🌕 For instance, when you look through this tube and catch a glimpse in the mirror, you witness yourself from an entirely distinct #perspective compared to any other point. The concept seems logical, but the actual impact it has is truly astonishing. This became so obvious when I attempted to capture this photograph... As I walked through the exhibition, these beautiful round tubes reminded me of something else: the round mirrors I used as wall decor.✨ The way the light reflected off the tubes created a mesmerising play of shadows and patterns, much like the way the mirrors enhanced the natural light in the apartment. It's incredible how art and design can make a difference and transform our surroundings and evoke different emotions. The exhibition offered a unique perspective, allowing me to see the world from a different point of view. It reminded me that even the simplest #objects can hold great beauty and significance when seen through the lens of #art. Ross) As I discussed in one of my posts for an online magazine in 2022, earthy materials, especially wood, have been and still are a mainstay throughout all the eras of interior design. 🏠When it comes to wood, there are plenty of options you can choose from to bring warmth to your house (distressed wood) or to create a focal point (burl wood). ✨ So, follow the everlasting trend and bring nature home to ensure aesthetic experience. According to neuroaesthetic researchers, the latter elicits the physiological sensations making fundamental components of our life experience. Designed by our Danish studio, SHL - Schmidt Hammer Lassen, in collaboration with PAX Architects, this competition proposal for the Royal Polish Opera won an honorable mention. The architectural concept embraces its setting within a forested park in Warsaw, wrapping the public spaces around an opera house and studio stage and integrating them into the verdant surrounds. Without a front or a back, the modestly scaled building’s glazed, scalloped walls welcome visitors from all directions while making the park’s mature trees part of the spectacle. Ice features prominently in the works of many artists to convey crucial messages about climate change. Japanese artist Azuma Makoto creates installations where flowers are embedded in ice. His project explores the beauty and transformation of natural objects over time, using ice as a medium to capture the ephemeral. Olafur Eliasson's Ice Watch is a massive installation that prompts deep reflection on the urgency to change our course regarding CO2 emissions. It was showcased in 2018 at Tate Modern, London. Our glacial perspectives, a work by Olafur Eliasson from 2020, stands atop the Ghiacciaio del Giogo Alto in Val Senales, at 3212 meters. It is a piece that features the colours and sunlight, water and ice, the environment, and climate changes. Swiss artist Douglas Mandry has created Gravity Flow, a site-specific installation composed of five sculptures made from recycled glass that highlights the danger of glaciers disappearing.
