PRODUCER | DIRECTOR | CREATOR ◾ Mission: Achieve greatness through artistic intelligence ◾ Vision: Pioneer new-age movie production, leveraging A.I & emerging technologies.
I was only 10 years old when I discovered the magic of cinema. The haunting and visceral images, the colors, the sounds, the immersion, the actors, the costumes, the chase scenes, the thrill... As the years went by, every year's technological advancements felt like real breakthroughs, ever advancing the 7th art. I remember the incredible first 8K Red Digital Cameras that Peter Jackson used for the Hobbit movies, the advancements in CGI, VFX, Camera Rigs, Post-Production software. Around that time came the MIDI pre-recorded musical instruments libraries, helping amateur composers all around the world to create soundtracks freely and easily, setting the world of music composition ablaze. Everything was moving in the right direction; I felt like a part of it, and it felt like cinema had a few good hundred years of flourishing and advancing into the future. But then several setbacks happened, "Streaming." What started with a lot of excitement ended up killing artistic expression, with all its algorithms making the decisions and predicting what viewers would like and dislike, eventually dumbing content down, forcing creators to take fewer risks, and conforming all international filmmaking to limiting guidelines and rules which resemble the hooks and tricks used on social media platforms today. "Quality drop." Then came the endless remakes, the superhero films, the lazy sequels, and all the modern Hollywood nonsense, flooding the industry with bad films and overshadowing the little gems produced here and there by real geniuses. And the biggest event of them all : "Artificial Intelligence?" A few weeks ago, we woke up to surreal news by Open AI, "Sora's" advanced A.I video generation. Encountering it was an existential moment. It makes you question everything: your previous aspirations, your dreams, requiring you to forget what you were taught, rethink what you are doing right now, and reflect on what you should be doing in the future. Will "doing" be something we "do"? Will we be the ones doing it? Every morning I wake up to another Pandora's box, and the earth beneath our feet shatters: Human voice-over dialogue is no longer required, animators are being replaced by AI, music composing for film is dead, screenwriters, etc... Watching Oppenheimer and Dune felt like witnessing David throwing his pebble at the upcoming Goliath. What do you do when the world around you morphs into a juggernaut of endless proportion? Do you go hiding? Do you run? Or do you ride the AI dragon? Will the dragon eat us? Or will it allow us to ride on its back? A million questions even the best of LLMs cannot answer right now, but to me, one truth is certain: The only way is forward, and I will start walking today... #thoughts #cinema #artificialintelligence #giantcreatives #filmmaking

Music Video Of The Month: “Mini Me's” by Meekz, directed by KC Locke. The music video for Meekz’s new single “Mini Me's” delivers a high-octane narrative that captivates from start to finish. This video is a testament to their collaborative genius, pushing the boundaries of music video production with a post-apocalyptic aesthetic that leaves a lasting impact. Locke’s use of motion control is nothing short of revolutionary. In the video’s first half, Meekz is seen taunting his copycats while being spun and floated through the air, strapped to a colossal robotic camera rig by G6Mocco. This visual spectacle transforms the rig into a co-star, enhancing the otherworldly atmosphere. As Meekz navigates this dystopian amusement park ride, the camera work creates a dizzying, immersive experience. The second half plunges Meekz into a chaotic, doomsday environment, with breathtaking visual effects courtesy of VFX studio LMNTL. Flames and ruins frame Meekz as he stands resilient amidst the devastation, symbolising his singularity in a world of clones. “Meekz wrote this song as a reaction to how others were stealing his brand and our style of filmmaking,” Locke explains. “We created something here that references our past work together and then moves beyond the pretenders who have copied and cloned him, and into the post-apocalyptic future where Meekz is the only artist left standing. It’s a powerful statement, expressed in artform.” “Mini Me's” is a statement of defiance and authenticity, a visual and auditory tour de force that firmly establishes KC Locke as a visionary director. How Crafting Cinematic Stories Can Elevate Your Brand. HiFi Klubben's latest ad, "Bad Sound Kills Good Music" , is a powerful example of how storytelling, combined with cinematic excellence, can truly elevate a brand. After watching this ad, we were left with a desire to see a full-length feature film named "Bad Sound Kills Good Music." It stirred emotions and connected us to HiFi Klubben’s unique culture—a celebration of high-quality sound and a deep passion for the film+sound experience. Can you relate? Creating stories with cinematic impact requires a high level of skill, often associated with Hollywood. Hats off to the producers, camera crew, and everyone involved for delivering this stunning piece of work. In today’s world of generative AI, cinematography stands out as an art and craft worth admiring. This ad was shot using old-school analog 35mm Kodak film - yes, you read it right, ROLLS OF STOCK FILM is still state of the art - to get that authentic "cinematic look." Add to that the incredible ARRI Ultra Prime cine-lenses to add that perfect shallow depth of field, and you’ve got a powerful storytelling toolkit. FOCUS, in particular, is a subtle yet essential tool for guiding the audience’s attention and tell the story. And for that, you need not just great equipment, but also an exceptional crew. Our special praise goes to DoP Jonas Möller and 1st AC Frederik Haslund (Moon Smart Focus ambassador), who worked with precision to capture this story without compromise. On set, there’s always the challenge of executing the director’s vision, capturing peak performances, and managing unpredictable conditions—all under extreme time pressure. That’s where we come in. The Moon Smart Focus system is an AI-powered distance measuring tool that assists focus pullers, allowing for faster pace, more accurate execution of elaborate shots by real-rime tracking of distances to all actors' eyes. This helps minimize retakes, keeps production moving smoothly, and reduces stress for the crew—all while maximizing the potential of every shot and freeing up more time for creativity. Always remember: BAD FOCUS KILLS GOOD STORIES. So, we’re curious: What kind of story could help your brand stand out—Romance? Sci-Fi? Thriller? Thanks Hifi-klubben for teaching us that BAD SOUND KILLS GOOD MUSIC. We created this Behind-The-Scenes remix as a homage to this production, showing a glimpse of the camerawork done by Frederik and Jonas (See link to the full Hifi-klubben ad in the comments)

A Conversation with 'Art Dealers' Directors Roy Power and Adam Weiner https://ift.tt/r2aIDC8 Philly rock band Low Cut Connie tears up the stage every night, but what's the story behind a local band, and what is life like for local rock legends? A new documentary from directors Roy Power and Adam Weiner seeks to unpack rock and roll, and gives us a sweet and genuine look into the life of local rockers. We recorded a chat between directors Roy Power and Adam Weiner and now pass it on to you. Check out the conversation below. - YouTube www.youtube.com A Conversation Between Art Dealers Directors Roy Power and Adam Weiner Adam Weiner: I always wanted to make a live performance film. I've always loved films like Stop Making Sense and Paris is Burning that capture magical live performances on celluloid, and after I got back on stage after the pandemic and I saw the intensity of our audience's reception, I felt it was now or never to try to capture these absolutely cathartic shows that were happening. Roy Power: Adam and I had worked together on some Low Cut Connie music videos in the years before the pandemic. In 2021, Adam called me with the opportunity to join him in making a full-length concert film—the obvious answer was yes. Weiner: Sony Hall offered us a big show on a Saturday night with two little chaser shows at the Blue Note on the following Monday. They said they wanted footage of us onstage for a commercial that Sony was going to air in Japan, but they would let us use the footage later for anything we wanted. Immediately I knew this was our shot at a full-length film. I felt there was a 20 percent chance that from a performance, audience, and technical perspective that something magic was could happen... And an 80 percent chance one of those three aspects was lackluster and we would just be wasting our time. It turned out to be an absolute smash beyond belief. Power: We had a few months to prepare on a micro-budget. Beyond anything technical, my first priority was to pull together a crew of like-minded camera operators. This was going to be a one-and-done situation with no re-shoots, so I recruited several other DPs and camera operators from Animus Studios, the video production company that I work at in Rhode Island. None of us had ever shot a project like this before, but still I preferred camaraderie and like-mindedness over “experience” in the field of concert filmmaking. DP's Andy Drachman and Murphy McCann did an incredible job of capturing high-intensity movement without intruding on the action. It's a miracle it all came together, but at the end of the Sony show, we knew we had something special. Weiner: When I saw the footage and heard the audio, I was floored. Power: We kept adding little interstitial pieces using 16 years of past footage of the band and Adam's misadventures during and before the band. It all just seemed to make the live performances hit even harder. Our editor Paul Raposo pulled something...

I created my own variation of the Toho studios ident for a music video tribute to Roland’s founder Kakehashi Ikutaro. Recreating traditional optical effects in After Effects can teach you so much, from creative problem solving to coming up with new ways of working. My favourite part was figuring out how the white light rays were created. It’s essentially a track matte of wavy lines rotating over the straight ones. When creating any vintage look my golden trio of FX are chromatic aberration, film grain and subtle vertical camera (film) shake. Have you got any tips for creating vintage optical effects in AE? #motiongraphics #vfx #postproduction #ident #freelance #animator #titles #design

PitStop Productions are very proud to announce that we worked on the Voiceover post-production, Sound Design and Music Creation for Supermassive Games Ltd and Behaviour Interactive's new release: The Casting of Frank Stone. Don't take our word for it - take a look at some of the reviews below: "The voice acting in this game is nothing short of stellar, with performances that are truly award-worthy across the board. There’s no substitute for top-tier voice talent, and it’s clear the developers knew this, delivering a game filled with film-quality performances from industry professionals. To top it all off, these exceptional voiceovers are perfectly complemented by music and sound effects that would put many horror movie productions to shame." - Game8 "And Frank Stone has great music and oppressive sound design. It borrows several sounds from DbD, including the paranoid keyboard blip that flits like a luna moth when you acquire an item, as well as the synth exhale of a successful skill check. Often, you hear the Dead by Daylight loading screen dirge dissolve in clever ways, pounding itself into your playthrough like a bad thought. Ultimately, The Casting of Frank Stone is most successful in these kinds of subtleties, the ones that reflect the trapped rhythm of its connecting timelines and Dead by Daylight's Survivors, who are hunted for eternity. Frank Stone's music repeats, its cast members reappear throughout history, and life, according to this game, is a wheel you're bound to. It might not always be pleasant, but the important thing is that it's yours." - Eurogamer
