Cotswold Homes has officially broken ground at Hopton Rise, an exciting new development on the edge of Malmesbury. The project will deliver 23 high-quality homes, including nine affordable homes, managed by a local housing association, providing a diverse range of housing options tailored to the community’s needs. Construction Director Nathan Coltman and Sales and Marketing Director Sarah Williams marked the occasion by symbolically helping to dig the first footings, signifying the start of construction. The development will feature a selection of three- and four-bedroom homes, all constructed using natural stone to harmonise with Malmesbury’s distinctive architectural heritage and scenic landscape. ✅ Plans have been approved for almost 100 energy-efficient council bungalows to replace outdated and defective homes on Lincoln Green Estate in Bushbury. 🏡✨ Keon Homes Limited will begin construction in late spring, delivering modern, adaptable housing - all part of Wolverhampton’s citywide strategy to upgrade 4,100 non-traditional homes. Have you seen our building work to create new accessible bungalows in Moredon and Walcot? 🚧 As part of the Council’s commitment to building a better, fairer and greener Swindon, two projects are working to create properties which have accessibility and sustainability in mind, addressing a shortage of adaptable housing in Swindon. In Ashley Close in Walcot (top image), the work to build three new three-bedroom homes is nearly complete and it is expected that these properties will be available for tenants to move in to in January 2025. Meanwhile, in Ventnor Close in Moredon (bottom image), construction on eight two-bedroom homes is continuing to progress with the first timber frame now up, while the parking area is now completed. Both projects are being built with the latest energy-saving technology to ensure these homes not only support accessibility but also help residents save on energy costs while reducing their environmental impact. We are thrilled to announce the upcoming development of the Summit at Granby Apartments in Granby, Colorado, the first competitive modular affordable housing project in the state of Colorado!   This innovative project, developed by the Summit Housing Group, is blazing the trail for a significant change to the future of low-income housing. With 67 units, including one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, this development will provide affordable housing for residents with incomes between 30% and 80% of the area median income.   Proof of Concept for Modular Building of Affordable Housing This advance in modular building design and execution is possible through the deep experience provided by our modular partner, Fading West whose factory is located in Buena Vista, Colorado. The project will break ground in May 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2026. Town of Westborough Town Meeting voted to pass the 2 zoning articles last night! The first article was for Inclusionary Zoning, which would require a 20% affordability requirement for all residential development with more than 10 units. Further, the SHI requirement would be broken down to require 15% of the units to have an average of 70% AMI and 5% to be affordable up to 120% AMI. The 2nd zoning article would allow commercial developments in the Highway Business Zoning District to request a Special Permit to reduce the open space requirement, in exchange for incorporating a sustainable design into their project. A developer could also request waivers to other dimensional requirements as well. By allowing for flexibility in the zoning for commercial businesses, the goal is to attract creative, high-value developments that increase our tax base while helping the Town meet sustainability goals. #zoning #planningforthefuture #sustainability #inclusionaryzoning #affordablehomesact

“Burnaby is taking a very broad, flexible approach to allow many different configurations. For example, where 6 dwelling units are permitted, one could build these units within any combination from one to six separate buildings on a lot, given setbacks, height, lot coverage and minimum building separations can be met (e.g. one 6-unit multiplex, three sets of duplexes, six detached dwellings in a cottage court/cluster configuration).
