Good morning, LPS! Our #MondayMotivation on this rainy Monday morning comes from Lincoln North Star graduation speaker Hailey Cunningham. In this quote, Hailey is reminding her classmates that it's okay to stray away from the plan you may have for your life, as it could lead to something even better. Have a great week, everyone! #LPSProud

🌟 PD Session on 'Values in Practice' with Charlotte Harvey🌟 Last week, I had the pleasure of co-leading a Professional Development session for our fantastic WIS staff from FS - YR6, diving deep into our school's new values of Empathy, Integrity, and Fortitude. 🚀 Key Highlights: Explored how these core values inspire and fortify our students, nurturing their resilience. Mapped out practical approaches for promoting these values across different year groups. Delved into the connection between values and behaviors, outlining actionable steps for aligning our actions. Reflecting on the power of restorative practices, we explored active listening and restorative questions as tools to embed values and resolve conflicts. 🔍 Takeaway Message: "The problem is not the problem." By focusing on our values, we're not just addressing surface-level issues but creating a foundation for lasting positive change. 🐺 Inspiration from Nature: Our journey ended with a captivating video which Matthew Savage recently shared with me. This was on how the wolves transformed Yellowstone National Park, and the course it's rivers. Much like the wolves, we're set to implement these values, anticipating a transformative impact on our school community. ✨ Excited for the Future: As we embed Empathy, Integrity, and Fortitude in our daily practices, I'm confident that we're not just instilling values but fostering a culture of growth, understanding, and positive change. #ValuesInPractice #EducationTransformation #EmpathyIntegrityFortitude #gemseducation #beamazingatwis

Your school's mission and vision are like guiding stars—they show us where we're headed and why it matters. The mission is like our North Star. It's the reason we exist as a school community. It defines our purpose, our core values, and what we're here to achieve. And then there's the vision. Think of it as our destination—the big picture of what we want to become. It's aspirational, inspiring us to strive for excellence and to keep pushing forward. So, when we ask ourselves what our school mission and vision mean to us, we're really asking: How do these guiding principles shape our daily actions and decisions? How do they influence the way we interact with students, parents, and each other? And most importantly, how do they help us create a better learning environment for all? It's about understanding that our mission and vision aren't just words on a page—they're the foundation of everything we do. #mission #vision

How to Bring the School Year to a Strong Finish A Message to our Young People The end of the school year is in sight. As the weather begins to warm, it’s tempting to turn our attention to the anticipation of summer and the promise of more time with friends, family, fun activities, and a well-earned change of pace. Summer will be here soon enough, but right now it’s important to build momentum and give it all you’ve got! Here are some tips to help guide our students to finishing this school year strong: - Call upon the best of who you are, your unique strengths and core values, to give you the fuel to keep moving forward with focus and determination. - Continue to use the strategies and skills that brought you success and helped you manage challenges throughout the year. - Reconnect to why academic success is important to you. - Recommit to what you need to continue doing to thrive. It’s hard to keep going with the same enthusiasm and motivation we started the year with, but remind your students how proud they’ll be if they stay strong to the finish line! Finishing strong is not the same for everyone. We have to set goals that are important to us and that represent our unique strong finish to this school year! - Coach Fran

Spring Break typically begins the start of the “busy season” for school administrators; state testing, activities, award assemblies, field trips, graduation, EOY benchmarks, etc. It’s easy to put strategic planning for the next school year on the back burner. It is important, however, to make collaborative planning with stakeholders a priority before school is out for summer break. Take time to set goals and design action steps to achieve them. #continuousimprovementculture #schoolimprovement
