What They Fund: Shifting Power: Building community power and leadership. Movement Building: Connecting local organizing to broader systemic change. Dismantling Oppression: Addressing racism, sexism, ableism, and privilege. Creating New Structures: Community-driven, sustainable alternatives to existing systems. Eligible Organizations: Budgets under $250,000. Directly engaged in community organizing. No 501(c)(3) required (EIN needed). Ineligible Activities: Programs outside the U.S., Mexico, or Haiti. Social services, research, or events without organizing strategies. Lobbying, scholarships, and academic institutions. Priority: General operating support.

A side effect of the #ukelection is the closure of a number of #UKGovernment funds. For example, the Community Ownership Fund Round 5 (Round 4 window 2) will not go ahead as was planned. No decisions on what happens next with COF will be taken until after the election. Funding to upgrade 399 community centres across the country announced under the Community Centres Investment Fund. Taoiseach, Simon Harris, and the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, have today announced funding to deliver enhancement and refurbishment works at 399 community centres nationwide. The successful community centre projects announced today are Category 1 applicants and will receive capital grants of up to €25,000. Over €7.6million is being announced under Category 1. Successful projects under Category 2 will be announced in the coming months. Solihull Community Buildings Fund New Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council fund through Heart of England Community Foundation APPLICATION DEADLINE: 31ST JULY 2024 Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eVbkFmMe As part of the UK Government’s investment in the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), Solihull Council is seeking to award a minimum of five capital grants to improve access and use of independently owned community buildings in the borough. This can include community and youth centres, village halls, as well as faith and school buildings that can provide regular community access and use. There is a total fund of £250,000 with a minimum of five grants to be awarded. There is no maximum or minimum amount that organisations can apply for, but projects must demonstrate value for money. The fund aims to improve public access to community buildings in Solihull, particularly in areas where there is a scarcity of facilities such as community centres. Only capital expenditure can be supported, but we can support projects that might do any of the following: ➡️Expand the time during the week that communities can access existing buildings; ➡️Expand the existing offer, through the addition of new facilities or storage; ➡️Expand the capacity of a building, including through the addition of an extension or more toilet facilities; ➡️Adapt buildings to make them more accessible to people with sensory needs or disabilities. Utah is rated the best state in the USA for social mobility, finds new research. The Archbridge Institute ranked all 50 American states based on their overall score for four pillars of social mobility: entrepreneurship and growth, institutions and rule of law, education and skills development, and education. The research was carried out by Dr Justin Callais, Professor of Economics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a research fellow at the Archbridge Institute, along with Gonzalo Schwarz, the CEO of Archbridge. Minnesota, Montana, Delaware and Vermont were also listed in the top five. The Mountain and West North Central areas were found to be the most supportive environments for social mobility, and regions in the south have the greatest barriers to social mobility, the report indicates. Researchers found that Utah has high business dynamism and high parental engagement with students along with supportive community activities and charities.
