🎅 Celebrating St. Nicholas Day with LINDEMANN! 🎄♻️ In Germany, December 6th holds a special place in our hearts as we celebrate St. Nicholas Day. Children wake up excited to find treats and small gifts tucked into their polished shoes, a tradition that symbolizes thoughtfulness and care. This day reminds us of the importance of generosity, responsibility, and giving back—not just to those around us but also to our planet. At LINDEMANN, we see this spirit reflected in our mission: transforming metal waste into valuable resources and giving materials a second life. As we honour this tradition, we’re proud to play our part in a circular economy, helping industries worldwide reduce waste and create sustainable futures. By recycling, we’re making sure there’s more to give—to our communities and the environment. How are you celebrating St. Nicholas Day? Share your traditions with us below! 👇 #MetalRecycling #MetalRecyclingSolutions #RecycleForChange #RecycleResponsibly #GreenFuture #RecycleForABetterFuture #StNicholasDay #GermanTraditions #CircularEconomy

I’m all about the hashtags #TransformTO (Toronto City Council has adopted an ambitious strategy to reduce community-wide greenhouse gas emissions in Toronto to net zero by 2040 – 10 years earlier than initially proposed. The City’s 2040 target is one of the most ambitious in North America. - 75 per cent of school/work trips under 5km are walked, biked or by transit) + #VisionZero ( The City is committed to Vision Zero and upholds its fundamental message: fatalities and serious injuries on our roads are preventable, and we must strive to reduce traffic-related deaths and injuries to zero.) What would happen if we changed the channel on a car centric, car dependent City of Toronto? What if we invested in SUVs?#SustainableUrbanVehicles Let’s figure out how we can #LeaveTheCarBehind and prove that 🚲#ThisMachineFightsClimateChange Thank you School of Cities, University of Toronto
We're thrilled to welcome Lanrick Jr Bennett as a new School of Cities Urbanist-in-Residence. During his time with us, Lanrick will grow his research and advocacy work on sustainable urban mobility, asking if cycling, particularly e-bikes, can significantly contribute to Toronto's net-zero GHG emission targets - utilizing urban data and experiences to explore sustainable solutions for urban centres, and providing actionable insights for policy recommendations.

Nature
ROP (Return on Potential) is my favorite acronym although I’m an MD, PhD, MBA, CFA & a bunch of other acronyms people think matters. 4x’ing ROP @ Harvard, MIT, & Stanford & Founder/CEO of a multibillion dollar VC firm.
Here are the facts: ☎️ The average person spends 4 hours and 37 minutes on their phone. 🌳 More than 50% of people spend LESS than 1 hour a day outside. 🧍♀️ Yet our distance ancestors spent virtually all of their time outdoors… 🌴…and outdoors wasn’t paved roads with honking horns and polluting vehicles - it was nature in it’s purest form. 🏡 Is it high time that we reclaim our heritage, reconnect with our essence, and find our way back home? Impactful panel yesterday at Middle Tennessee CCIM Chapter highlighting Choose How You Move. Some of the key takeaways - Sustainable Transportation: Promotes eco-friendly options like biking, walking, and public transit, reducing Nashville's carbon footprint. 86 miles of sidewalks!!! -Real-Time Information: Offers up-to-date traffic, transit, and ride-sharing data, making it easier to navigate the city. Some of the traffic lights were still on daily up until this year! - Community Inclusivity: Accessible for all, helping residents, commuters, and visitors find efficient, personalized transportation options. We are still a growing city and need 24/7 to support hospitality. - Improved Connectivity: Helps people explore Nashville’s neighborhoods and events without the hassle of traffic congestion. - Enhanced Quality of Life: Creates a smoother, greener, and more enjoyable transportation experience across the city. You spent 58 hours in the car last year (on average) Michael Briggs, AICP / @Dirk Melton/ @Jeff Morris/ Brittany Campagna

Today, us Scots celebrate St. Andrew’s Day, I’m reflecting on the incredible legacy of Scotland—a small country with a massive impact on the world. From our rolling hills to our lochs, our landscapes are breathtaking, but for me it’s the sheer ingenuity of our people that truly defines us. Scotland has always been a land of ideas. 🏴 Adam Smith, the father of economics, taught the world about the invisible hand of the market—but also the importance of fairness and morality. 🏴 James Watt revolutionised the Industrial Age with the steam engine, reshaping how the world worked and lived. 🏴 Alexander Graham Bell gave us the telephone, changing how we connect across the world. These are just some of the countless Scots whose innovations have shaped humanity. It’s a legacy of bold thinking, unrelenting curiosity, and a deep drive to improve the world. I like to think I emulate that spirit!! St. Andrew’s Day reminds us of these values: humility, collaboration, and resilience in the face of challenges. As a proud Scot, I carry these values with me every day. Our history isn’t just something to look back on—it’s a foundation for what we can build in the future. Let’s celebrate Scotland not only for what it has achieved, but for what it continues to inspire. What innovation or moment in Scottish history inspires you most? PS I will from Monday begin publishing the analysis from my polls on industry reforms. #bigcoatweather #scottish #standrewsday

THE LITTLE DIRT TRAIL Not far from where I live is this little dirt trail that connects Genting Lane to Tannery Lane. The trail is on land that doesn't belong to any of the private industrial buildings around it. Everyday, hundreds of people working in the area take a 3-minute walk through this dirt trail as a link between their offices and a few food-courts within the Genting industrial estate as part of their daily lives. If the trail wasn't here, one would have to make a 20-minute detour on foot to get to those food-courts. During the rainy season, that's what people had to do, because the dirt trail becomes a muddy swamp, all but impassable to people unless they wore waterproof boots. You can imagine that this causes distress on a workday to some people, who has to worry about how they’re supposed to get lunch on a daily basis. And then one day, somebody from somewhere organized the resources and time to nail together hundreds of wooden planks, and put them piece by piece into a walkway along this entire trail, so that it is never impassable even when it rains. There was no notice, no sign of government intervention, no insider information in the chatgroups about who did it. It was just done, and suddenly the people of the estate never have to step in mud again. I think of the nameless individuals who made this happen. People who make the world a better place one project at a time, even when it takes considerable resources and effort, even when nobody asked them to do so. I admire these people, and look forward to seeing the natural spirit in most of us to make improvements to our world. I hope this is not just the case for people from my generation. I hope these people exist in my children’s generation. I hope the human spirit for good never weakens. Remember: 'You need to take time out to work on your business, not in your business.' Heather Matthews' Vistage UK journey is a testament to this principle. Joining Vistage initially felt daunting for Heather, taking her 2 years to finally make the leap. However, over the past 7 years, she has never looked back! Listen to her inspiring story in the video below as she shares how this investment in Little's has proven to be the most important and best decision she has ever made. Multi-Award Winning Best Practice Chair of Leadership Peer Groups @ Vistage | Developing High-Performing Leaders
I'm often asked - what do I love most about what I do? If you know me, you'll know I'm absolutely passionate about my role as a Vistage UK Chair and about my members, who I get to choose and to bring into my Groups. Around 9 years ago I met this incredible lady, who was really focused on the growth of her business. But Heather is a reflector, and thinks things through, and took a wee while to decide to join my Glasgow Group - 2 years!! Since then, she hasn't looked back. Her business has doubled in size, she has a global footprint, she's scooped most of the women's, family business and entrepreneur awards in Scotland, and I've been so grateful to have been on this journey with her. Heather outlines her journey with Vistage UK in this video, and I'm sure you'll agree, she's the embodiment of a wonderful leader, who genuinely brings others along with her. I love working with her and I love having her as a member. Thank you Heather Matthews! https://lnkd.in/eZyBZEsM
