Today marks an important occasion: Menstrual Hygiene Day. It's a day to break the silence surrounding menstruation and challenge the taboos and stigma that still surround it. Despite menstruation being a natural part of life with half of the world's population experiencing it, the topic remains a controversial subject surrounded by shame, taboos and stigma. This cultural silence maintains a cycle of shame and misinformation, hindering open discussions and access to proper menstrual health education and products. Breaking through these barriers is essential for promoting gender equality, bodily autonomy, and overall well-being for women. That’s why we continue to drive this cause, raise awareness, collaborate for positive impact and innovate to remove hinders for all women and girls out there. Menstrual Hygiene Day raises awareness to help continue to normalize menstruation as a normal everyday part of life for people born with uteruses. To recognize this day, we have signed the period pledge and offer free menstruation products to our employees. According to the 2023 public opinion research survey conducted by Environics Research on behalf of Women and Gender Equality Canada, almost one-quarter of people who menstruate in Canada report struggling to afford menstrual products for themselves or their children.
