This year has been a rollercoaster for the cannabis community, full of highs and lows and that's no different for us at Fields Cannary. From capital rising woes to construction hurdles, we've faced a lot. But here's the thing – growth isn't always easy, and success isn't without its challenges. To our fellow operators and enthusiasts, cheers to you for weathering the storms! Your resilience in the face of adversity is inspiring. The cannabis industry has not only survived but in some cases has thrived and for many others, will thrive very very soon! Proving that we're a community that knows how to adapt and evolve. In every setback, there's a lesson. We've learned that acknowledging both the highs and lows is crucial. Success isn't just about celebrating victories; it's about learning from our mistakes and embracing the journey. I've been around for some time and have had many winners and many not so winners. Trying and failing doesn't make anyone a lesser person than someone that tried and succeeded. Not trying is what sets us apart. Let's not just focus on the negatives – let's celebrate the positives too! The hard work, dedication, and passion for the plant and people are what drive this industry forward and are worth recognizing. Happy Friday folks! 😄 Has anyone else ever wondered about the fate of weed companies that didn't quite make it to the top? Let's take a trip down memory lane to look back at some mary-jane moguls who faded out, puff puff, without a pass, despite the booming market. • Firstly, just a moment of silence for the one-hit-wonders. 🙌 The likes of CannTrust, who went off track with regulations, leading to their suspension. A learning lesson for us all - never underestimate the power of regulatory compliance.🙏 • Then, we had MedMen Enterprises. They had a stunningly lavish approach to selling weed, envisioning an Apple Store ambience for pot. But, keeping up that luxurious image devoured their profits faster than you could say munchies! 🍔😬 Their wallet took a hit, big-time, making them an object lesson in sustainable scaling. • And let's not forget iAnthus Capital Holdings, who went a bit too wild with their acquisition spree. 😲 They failed to recognize one crucial business rule - expansion without a concrete plan can lead to disaster. Now, they're carrying that burden of debt heavier than a bag of Indica shake. BUT... here's the fun fact of the day! 🥳 Not all failures are final. Remember Terra Tech? They crawled back from the brink and are on the mend with a company restructuring, taking the bull by the horns, or rather, the weed by its roots! So, what's the MAIN LESSON from these tales? Businesses in marijuana, like in any other sector, must strive for effective governance, responsible scaling, and strategic expansion. Now that the little one just turned one, it feels like the natural next step to shout into the (professional) abyss that is LinkedIn about what happened to motherhood and entrepreneurship. When I was pregnant, I knew, conceptually, that a newborn is a lot of work. But hey, it's not like I have never had a demanding job with 50 meetings and 20 deadlines all happening in a week. Can’t be worse - I am just going to project manage the crap out of taking care of a newborn. Well, the next thing I know I was knocked sideways - physically, emotionally and intellectually, literally and figuratively. Kudos to Victoria for gently and patiently reminding me to give myself some grace, when i was over ambitious and then over critical of how little I thought I accomplished. It was a hard lesson to learn. Getting back on the horse, and regaining DoggyDay’s momentum, felt like it might never happen again. And I couldn't do it without Positive Planet Accelerator Program. It was clear from day one that my coaches, Scott and John, were firmly in my corner. I mean, Scott sat me down and went over cell by cell our whole financial plan. Cell by cell, y'all. (By the way, if there is any early stage founder, even just at the ideation phase, please reach out and I can tell you all about this great program.) Now DoggyDay is getting back in full swing, which was something I wasn't entirely sure would ever happen again while in the midst of a postpartum fog. But as of today: 1️⃣ we have pivoted our revenue model 2️⃣ we started the process of injecting AI into our ops 3️⃣ we are picking up all the partnerships we left off 🔥 we have marketing funding from Positive Planet to pour fuel on this fire that is DoggyDay! 🐕 I am so excited. Even if I have been severely sleep deprived for the last 12 months. p.s. here's a picture of Mousse... still asking for cheese.

Feeling the stress and anxiety of the #cannabisindustry ? Navigating the cannabis industry can feel like steering through a storm. Morning Rituals: Before the emails and calls, I go to the gym. This has helped as I get it out of the way right away and my energy is much higher during the work days. It's my calm before the day's storm. 2. Community Support: On days when that hits harder than the others, I lean on my crew at ECO Mastermind and my own network. We share what’s going on with actionable tactical steps. Regardless of whether it's life, business or anything else. 3. Adaptability: The single greatest tool for an entrepreneur is their ability to pivot quickly and effectively. Pivoting with the market, staying agile, and always ready to move in a new direction. 4. Self-Care: In the hustle, I carve out time for myself. A moment to disconnect, to recharge, because a clear mind steers the ship best. In the morning after the gym and at home, I am a father. Nothing else. I am focused on being the best father I can be for my family and need to be present. 5. Vision: The North Star on my darkest nights. I have been passionately working on my cannabis company, Spliffay, for a while now. It has been a journey, to say the least, from learning new things and experiencing failures and rejection. You can't stop because of the obstacles and I knew we needed to grow. As an introvert, reaching out to complete strangers was a daunting task for me. However, I soon realized that being vulnerable and honest brought us closer as humans. Although some conversations were just exchanging pleasantries, others led to eye-opening moments, and I learned a lot from them. Recently, I had a conversation with Darrell Fay, the owner of ZeroHigh Cannabis Solutions, who joined our beta launch. We talked about our passions within the industry, the reasons behind them, and our goals. He was kind enough to send me some of his top-notch products and educate me on how to dose them properly for different use cases. The lesson I learned is to always take the call and break past your fears because you never know what lies on the other side. It may lead to new relationships or partnerships. It’s truly an honor to welcome my dear friend and colleague James Kennedy into the Nomad fold. In 2014, then at the helm of the trailblazing Apothecanna, James gave me my break in cannabis, enabling me to learn the industry from the inside. Like many of our colleagues in cannabis, he and I have been through so much together, seen and experienced both joys, successes and the travails of our chosen industry. Maintaining a close personal and professional relationship through all of this is one of the things I am most proud of. Too frequently cannabis has broken the bonds of friendship and camaraderie, that feeling, so essential to the plant itself, that we're all in this together. James brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into Nomad, and our current and future clients will benefit and thrive from it. His skill set and capabilities range not only from the creative branding work that Nomad is best known for, but extend into key areas of operations, licensing, product development and team-building. He's brought dozens of products to market, across the country. And, his focus on the emerging psychedelics business also adds to the overall vision Nomad needs to prosper going forward. But more than any specific skillsets or capabilities, I've come to appreciate how important the human side of the equation is. Though at first we may seem an odd couple, he soft-spoken and thoughtful, me, more loud and lucid, together there's a completion, a resolution of sorts. One that lets our clients, partners, friends, colleagues feel they are truly seen and heard. The world is changing, we can all feel it in all realms: economic, human, professional and spiritual.  Cannabis has pushed things forward, and yet there is still work to do. We maintain wholeheartedly the idea that the best is yet to come. One thing I’ve learned, and that I hold most dear as a life insight, is that the change is gonna happen whether you like it or not, so it’s best to accept and move it, with, as the bard said, “a pinch of grace.” Welcome James, and thank you for everything you’ve done, for cannabis, for the hundreds of people you have touched and supported and what we’re about to do together in this next phase. Now is a good time to join James and I on a call and see and hear first hand some of our ideas, the open spaces we see and how we might work together, in any number of capacities.

I’m all about throwing as much shit to the wall and seeing what sticks. You basically just gotta try as much as you can to see what’s viable for your situation. Trust me, it took me 5-10 stabs at trying to start a business to finally get something off the ground. And now that Delivered, Inc is off the ground, we’re experimenting as much as we can to see what we can do to drive growth. Which is why I’m pumped to launch our partnership with Jointly. Jointly is a game changer for cannabis consumers. Instead of just giving you a marketplace to shop on, Jointly harness the power of AI to give consumers a personalized, tailored shopping experience aimed at improving their relationship with cannabis. This is especially helpful to us because of our lack of budtenders. Given that customers place their orders online with us, we miss that golden opportunity that budtenders have to learn what the customer needs and then provide a recommendation based and even upsell. We completely miss these opportunities. But this is where (we hope) Jointly will shine for us.
