Reflections on Retention When I moved to Thailand 13.5 years ago, I didn’t have a degree, any management experience, or much of a plan. I was in a brand-new country, learning as I went. I made a lot of mistakes—more than I care to admit—but those mistakes taught me valuable lessons about leadership and building a team. This year, I launched my third company, Frontline Recruitment Thailand, and as we close out 2024, I’m proud of one key achievement: we’ve only lost one team member this year. In my previous company, which I started from scratch, we lost just two people in two years. For recruitment startups in Thailand, that’s a result I’m incredibly proud of. What’s behind these numbers? I’d like to think it comes down to building a workplace where people feel valued and rewarded for their efforts. At Frontline, we offer one of the best commission structures in the industry, profit-sharing, flexibility with work-from-home options, and no rigid KPIs. But more importantly, we’ve built a team culture that thrives on hard work, mutual respect, and shared goals. Retention isn’t about ticking boxes or throwing out perks—it’s about creating an environment where people want to stay. And when you get it right, it shows. I’m sharing this because I believe in learning from experience. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that building a strong team takes time, effort, and sometimes trial and error. To anyone building their own team: what have you found works when it comes to keeping people on board?

🌴 Taking a fine of 2 million VND to skip team building 🏝️ ⚡️ Not everyone enjoys every activity, and team building is one of them. At the beginning of May, Kim Phung's company (27 years old, Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City) announced a company retreat in Thailand for its employees. To encourage participation, the company imposed a fine of 2 million VND for those who did not attend. However, because she had been to Bangkok many times before and was not particularly close to her colleagues, she chose to pay the fine and stay at home to spend time with her family. 💼 💸🏡 Hà My, a 25-year-old accountant from Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi, also paid a fine of 2 million VND to "stay at home" during the team building event in Cat Ba. Hà My hopes that the company can improve the team building program and provide more engaging activities. Instead of visiting familiar destinations, the HR department and travel company can organize a gala dinner or camping trip. 💬 "The trend of healing travel is booming. Instead of 'chasing KPIs' at tourist spots, I want to rest and recharge, spend time getting to know and develop relationships with my colleagues," says Hà My. ⭐️ This is the sentiment of many young professionals today. However, it is because many organizations and individuals misunderstand the purpose of team building activities. Companies can hire third-party organizations like CREATIO to consult and organize meaningful team-building sessions that align with the corporate culture of each company and meet the desires of their employees! #Creatio #CreationWithoutEnd #MarketingAgency #ConsultingAgency #13YearsOfSustainableDevelopment #Climatechange #News #teambuilding #companyretreat #bonding #development #workenvironment #personnel #productivity #happiness #teamspirit #zinews
